About Me
Hey couchsurfing world! I know, I know, I don't have references...I'm new here! But I've surfed my fair share of couches apart from this app :)
I'm a Chinese American goofball who has spent the past 6 years after college grinding it away at corporate Microsoft, and though I loved my job very much, I knew something was missing. It's a bit drastic, but basically I broke up with my girlfriend, sold my belongings, quit my job and bought a one-way ticket to travel the world. And it's the best thing I've ever done.
So while I won't be able to host any surfers until I return to the states and secure a living situation, I'm hoping to make some friends and future surfers!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been traveling all around Asia for over a year now and it didn't take long for me to realize that the most memorable and priceless moments of my trip has been spent with locals. Dining, drinking, hanging out, exchanging cultural knowledge and sharing stories - I absolutely love these memories. I now have a load of beautiful friends from all over the world, which is my biggest draw to this site. I'd love to hang out with locals and embed in the culture, especially in these remaining countries (Japan, Korea, Taiwan). The best advice has never come from a guidebook or tour guide - for me, it's always getting the pulse of the country from a local's point of view and then setting off and getting lost.
I may be backpacking, but I'm not really a budget traveler. I mean, I save money where I can, but I don't skimp when it comes to unique experiences. Couchsurfing isn't about finding a free couch to me. It's about finding a (hopefully) lifelong friend and learning local culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
Any local international music. My tastes seriously run the gamut. Jazz, punk, indie rock, old school hip-hop and R&B, new school hiphop/R&B, traditional Sufi, whatever. Any Haruki Murakami, Garcias Marquez, Salman Rushdie books. Any Charlie Kaufman films. 400 blows. I watch a buttload of movies so it's hard to nail down...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After two months of learning how to drive a motorcycle, I rented one in Northern India and took two weeks to ride the highest motorable road in the world, through gravel, rocks, sand, mud, snow, ice, and thigh-high rivers. Khardung-La in the Himalayas. Craziest, dumbest and most amazing thing I've ever done.
Teach, Learn, Share
Share. Wait, hmmm not sure what the question is... :P
What I Can Share with Hosts
My sometimes unfortunate but always hilarious travel stories. Travel insights and advice, especially regarding the crazy magical country that is India. I'd love to share meals! Oh and also I love to cook, so I can offer that too. Also, sounds weird, but I took a two-week Thai massage course in Chiang Mai and I can offer a two-hour session for free, just to allow myself some practice.
