ABOUT ME

I'm curious, adaptable, easygoing. I love to experience new and strange things, go to exciting places, meet pleasant and interesting people, both home and abroad.

Im studying documentary filmmaking at the Art Academy in Utrecht (HKU). I absolutely love documentary filmmaking - it is the perfect way for me to learn about people and places i'm curious about and then to tell a story that reflects on these new experiences. Before this I've studied cultural anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. This socio-cultural knowledge I try to bring along and apply to my documentaries.

PHILOSOPHY

I think the most important value for me is the courage to make choices, without knowing, in the moment, if it will be the right one. There is an inevitable loss in every choice we make. Still, it is absolutely necessary to make choices. If not, we will live a life of passivity and regret. So making choices in the full light of our unknowing, and accepting the inevitable loss of every choice we make, knowing that nothing lasts anyway, so we better spend our time in the way that seems best at this precise moment.

I guess this makes me an existentialist.

I was away from couchsurfing for a while, but now i have a new and spacious home in Utrecht i'm very excited to host again and invite the world into my home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the last years, i've been hanging out with Polish people in India, stayed at the office of some Afghani frozen icecream entrepreneurs in Kabul, met an American student in Morocco, drank tea with a filmmaker in Tehran, Iran and so on :-)
