About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To spend quality time with old friends in far-flung cities and cook dinner for new friends instead of supporting hotels. On a Grand Tour from Atlanta to San Francisco and coming up on Nashville.
I want to give hosting H'sapiens a positive experience of a quiet, courteous guest who can cook and clean and do work for the household, and coax hosts out to come have fun if they're too responsible,
ABOUT ME
What it is, travel donkeys. I'm a San Franciscan bartender, caterer, playboy and raconteur, and if I'm surfing it means I'm in a fun growth phase and determined to adventure. I'm down to earth and not consumerist, and like to support local farmers and artisans in cooking and mixing drinks for hosts.
I'm up for being a good guest, attending and helping with wild parties, being a social team player and bringing the fun. I'm also down to just STFU and go to sleep so my host can too. I'm upping my bartending game by studying the ways of Death & Co., a New York cocktail bar that many think is far too hip but with whose cocktails no one can argue. I'm also not that much of a drinker myself.
I'll only stay one night with anyone on this GT. No moping around your house, crowding you. I say let's go out and have fun or let me cook dinner, go night night, let me make us breakfast and I'm out.
I've stayed with puritanical midwesterners and with Eureka nudists. I will adapt to your microculture fast.
PHILOSOPHY
I don't have a ton of patience for mean, cranky, or pessimistic people. Being overwhelmed or soured by life is no way to go through it--it's all you get. I believe in no deities, spirits or magic. It's important to be good to each other and enjoy life now. Those who can't get into that spirit don't deserve its rewards.
I do have faith in the eternal party: somewhere, some people are having a ball, inviting the revelry, bonhomie and maybe carousing, refusing to care about the niggling annoyances of life. You may not find the party every night, but it will pass over you eventually, more if you try.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting: I was once a paleo-leaning nutritionist and serve most guests meaty, planty meals good enough that they give up carbetarianism for the weekend. Then we party.
Surfing: I want to give hosting H'sapiens a positive experience of a quiet, courteous guest who can cook and clean and do work for the household, and coax hosts out to come have fun if they're too responsible, Also, did I mention bartender? I have a knack for guessing the tastes of my host and mixing them drinks they love and have never had, though I'm not a huge drinker myself.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Plenty--I really prefer spending my money on food and gifts for hosts than hotels or AirBnB. Mostly along the West Coast, a little along the east, very little in the middle. Hope to go transnational soon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Found a hot spring oasis in the Mexican desert. Partied with the bright young things in Montreal. Both left me in awe.
Teach, Learn, Share
I end up teaching people the paleo diet and how to heal stuff. I can't believe they wanna hear it.
I generally end up teaching people finer points of laws and home remedies.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Handymannery around the house. I live with a bunch of lovable Oakland stoners in the Bay Area and I end up being the one who fixes everything. I don't mind.
