ABOUT ME

umm.. They would probably say that being with me is like being with 10 different people all at once.. I am easy going yet intensely passionate, curious and involved yet surrendered.. i crave new experiences yet yearn for the warmth of familiarity.. a mathematecian by training with a vagabonds heart...a bunch of contradictions really... I can amaze you with my wit or humour or intelligence when I am at my hyperactive best, and exasperate you with my ability to spend hours and days doing absolutely NOTHING ! I guess people love me for the Roller Coaster Ride that i am !

PHILOSOPHY

not given to philosophizing much... living, learning, laughing and loving are more than enough for my primitive brain to handle !!
though i do have moments where i struggle for meaning, and ask questions.. seek truth and knowledge and wisdom and compassion, but i have experienced that all these come, eventually from the four l's above..
did i just philosophize ?!

Interests

Trekking/ Mountaineering - I LOVE MOUNTAINS.. the cool air, and pristine blue skies..the tall trees, arid and rocky terrain.. the people, the animals... little springs and waterfalls.. clouds.. and the breathlessness ......

Hobby Projects - making mechanical toys, boats, clocks.. anything that requires using tools, making sketches and diagrams and blueprints and working with your hands !

Sketching/painting - Pencil, charcoal, mixed media... Portraits are my speciality.. Vincent van Gogh is my favourite painter..

Cooking: i enjoy cooking occasionally, when i am in the mood..something sumptuous and filling , proper presentation, and small details which make everything extra special.. :)

Sports : i love being able to play a good game of basketball with friends.. tend to get a little competitive, but in good spirit ! Table Tennis (ping pong) is also a lot of fun...

Poker : Though not for any serious money or anything.. Its good fun when you are playing with really smart people..

Music, Movies, and Books

Books :
I like reading... Dostoyevsky's- Brother's Karmazov, The Idiot, Crime and Punishment are three novels that have made me fall in love with Russia and its people... I will be to Russia some day...
Albert Cammus- The Outsider, is another book I found interesting.
P.G Wodehouse has made me laugh out loud. Actually, i fell from the bed laughing i think.
Dickens is absorbing... Great Expectations has definitely made a lasting impression on me.
Actually i can go on and on.. The One book that I must tell you about though is The Gita. I dont know where i would have been without it. This is enough information for a public forum i think..

Music :
I used to listen to classic rock and blues as a teenager. some metal as well... Got interested in western and Indian classical for some time.. Experimented with Trance, Electronica, Indie and Fusion.. But Sufi is where my heart truly belongs i think.

Movies:
I have only lately developed an interest in movies thanks to my friend's efforts :) ... I have seen a few good ones thus far, but not as many as i would like to.. i now understand that i have a lot of catching up to do !

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the sunrise at 4 in the morning standing at Kanchenjunga Base Camp. Gaping at the snow clad mountain turning pink to orange to goleden yellow right in front of my eyes !

Spending a moonlit night on a small boat, singing songs and playing the guitar with friends till dawn, with lush hills all around and 13 feet crocodiles swimming around in the water !
