About Me

Last spring finished sophomore year at Yale College, taking a gap year in China, and super into backpacking. I grew up in Salvador, Brazil until I was 14, when I moved to Rio de Janeiro with my parents. I am very fond of Brazilian culture and folklore, as well as US and Chinese History .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I want to meet locals from all the trips I do. I like to travel to understand how people live in different countries, and I like so much when something I take as a given is not true for other cultures.

Interests

I love to read books, play the guitar, dance latin dance, and watch movies. I am passionate about entrepreneurship, computer science, history and culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Power of Habit, Start Something that Matters, Plato's Dialogues, Divine Comedy, Mere Christianity, How to win friends and influence people, Zero to One, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Bible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Found a project to teach elementary math to poor kids in Middle School. It's spread out to 6 cities in Brazil.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to teach English, Spanish or Portuguese to anyone, as well as Brazilian culture and arts and music.
I also am interested in understanding the history of different countries taught from their point of view, as well as understanding different ways people live around the world.
A good example of that is when I read On China, by Henry Kissinger, which gives the sino-centric perspective of History. Absolutely mind blowing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be more than happy to share a lot about Brazilian arts, culture, politics, places to visit and also would love to practice some Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese or English with my hosts.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Cambodia, Canada, France, Guatemala, Israel, Italy, Nicaragua, Portugal, Russian Federation, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
