About Me

I guess this is my moment to tell you why I am wonderful and to convince you that I would be a great host. So, here it goes.

I'm a urban-born academic wiz with a swag for the street lights, a fervor for outdoor adventure, and the passion of a home chef. I don't cook much, but I sure love eating. I'm just a young professional always looking to make new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've met so many cooky and crazy characters throughout my years travelling, that I thought I would give this a try.

I lived in a homestay for two years in the Peace Corps and shared all moments with that family: sad, funny, awkward and awesome. I've had a few other experiences being hosted and generally enjoy what we learn from each other. I always try to make sure that I leave with something tangible that reminds me of them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'd have to say Good Will Hunting and deeper mind-boggling movies like Inception and I Am Legend or anything from the fresh prince of course. I think Looper was well executed and still could have sworn Gordon Levitt was going to play Night Wing after his performance in The Dark Knight. I had to watch Shawshank Redemption a few times because Freeman nailed it. And Me, Myself & Irene still cracks me up.

Books, not many but if you have to ask: "Guns, Germs & Steel," and "The Secret Life of Oscar Wao"

When it comes to music, I am all about bodies of work. Growing up in the birthplace of hip-hop, I was influenced by the Big Puns and Notorious B.I.G.s to Jay-Z's and Nas before and after their tussle. I used to bump God's Son on the bus ride to school and during jazz band practice took out my Songs in A Minor to play the notes of Alicia Keys. And I still follow them today, which if you ask me, I could tell you about how young artists like J. Cole made Nas proud in his song, or in the south how Childish Gambino is reinventing the way we experience music with the Because the Internet album. Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar and the Black Hippy crew are one of my secret favorites, but Eminem is #1.

I just like real music overall, and put on a Latin salsa, merengue or bachata and rest assured I'll be on the dance floor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked a 18,000-ft. volcano in the middle of a small earthquake. I swear I thought I was going to die, but it just made me want to get home quicker.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will be a student and life will be my textbook for as long as I live. There's always a new chapter to learn and I enjoy teaching that to others.
