ABOUT ME

Diana is studying in Florence until the end of April, and then Justin will join her for the first of many world trips together. We're a couple that started as friends and fell in love after many years; we are thankful, goofy, passionate about creativity, and love sharing a cup of tea.

Diana:
*painter
*sculptor
*renaissance woman
*loves writing, studying the humanities, and other subjects that people tell her won't make her a living.
*finds joy in digging in her garden, being barefoot, dressing up in silly costumes to go to the grocery store, and riding bikes.
*wine, vegetarian food, and spicy food have a Pavlovian effect on her
*she's prone to doodling ...

Justin:
*his heart is in his ear
*a dj in his free time (minimal techno)
*a food bringer in his work time
*has a heart for peace, but quick to defend his loved ones
*enjoys playing disc golf, defying gravity, and eating spicy foods
*loves things that come from Germany
*wants to share his music with you

PHILOSOPHY

Keep an open door - to changing your mind, to new experiences, to people you think you won't like, to communication - and it will be the most important thing you'll ever do both for yourself and others.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, we're traveling, but when we get back home in May we're open to reciprocating to all the great experiences and friendship we're looking forward to having. Indianapolis is an interesting place if you know where to look, and we'd love to provide the conversation and launching point for a visit to our city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've never formally arranged anything through couch surfing, but we've hosted lots of friends on our couches and surfed plenty on our own.

A few weeks ago Diana slipped on the algae and fell into one of the canals in Venice late at night during Carnevale, and through the graciousness of strangers she found a wool sweater, a hot shower, a set of dry sleeping clothes, and a cozy couch for the night. It was a perfect example of what can happen when two strangers decide to trust one another.

Neither of us have TVs and we don't watch too many movies, but we do watch on the computer sometimes - documentaries (about science, space, nerdy things ...), Myth Busters, Penn & Teller's Bullshit ... we love a good laugh.

World Naked Bike Ride, Chicago 2009 - 1700 naked people, and the tables turned! Saw a man join us after he exited a bookstore and we were wizzing by - he ran with us the rest of the way in his combat boots, carrying his clothes and books.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Justin can teach you how electronic music works, is good with computers, can explain physics, chemistry, and math in ways that make sense to right-brained folk, and if you need to understand how the Large Hadron Collider works or why it exists, he can tell you that too. He can also point out the potential problems you might run into with a given situation ...

Diana will bring her tea to share, and maybe she can show you how to appreciate art that makes you mad or how to make a delicious vegetarian or vegan meal from things in your kitchen you didn't know could taste good together ... or maybe you already knew.
