About Me

Most at home in nature, I love being outdoors, from the beach to the forest, to the mountains. Things like walks and foraging make me happy, as well as sun bathing and anything water related.

When I can I like to spend time gardening, and would be keen to help out in peoples gardens on my travels. Making a beautiful big salad from freshly picked garden goodness is one of my favourite, simple life pleasures!

When visiting a city, I look forward to things like salsa dancing, cute cafes for people watching, enjoying amazing authentic eats, and browsing markets and art galleries.

I’ll be travelling through Europe this summer (2023), and would love to meet likeminded souls. My intention for my travels is to enjoy culture, food, dancing, and sunshine, as well as connecting in to myself on a bit of a healing and self rediscovery journey.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet interesting people and experience a more authentic aspect of a place. Love those insider tips!

To share stories and experiences, food and adventures ✨

Despite first becoming a CS member in 2014, I actually never used it until now. Recently heard from a friend of her experience staying with lovely people on her travels, and it has again sparked my interest. It sounds like such a genuine way to get to know a place, and I love the community spirit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Into a pretty eclectic mix when it comes to music, folk, R&B/soul, electronic, Latin, alternative, French pop, classical.

Some favourite films… The Darjeeling Limited (anything Wes Anderson is great really), Amelie, ahh and now that I’ve started I can’t think of more. I’m not great with remembering names!
I love a good rom com to relax, drama especially when based on true events, documentaries on nature and travel, and comedy especially British and French comedies.

My favourite book of all time is Papillon by Henri Charriere. It’s the ultimate adventure, defeating the odds, drama, romance, it really has a bit of everything! Love a good adventure/real life story kind of book, as well as the occasional chick lit when I want to relax, and also enjoy getting into personal growth and development stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learnt to ski as an adult. Have realised over the past few years how important it is to keep stretching yourself physically and mentally and learning new things!
It’s one of the reasons I’ve recently picked up dancing again, as it’s a great body and brain workout combined.

When it comes to travel, I’ve experienced many amazing things, but what I remember most are the small moments. Looking out a bus window and catching a little kids eye to get a shy smile, or finding a place to eat that’s so good you end up returning to the town just to eat there again, or sitting on a boat anticipating my next destination and with the wind in my face.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a deep love of food and love cooking together and sharing recipes. This includes enjoying foraging and learning about new edibles in nature.
I’m also keen to continue improving my dancing skills, and will be attending dance classes and socials as I travel, so always keen for dance buddies! I’m into Salsa and bachata, and keen to try out other things too.
This past summer in New Zealand I joined in a weekly sailing race team, on a small 3-4 crew yacht, on the lake where I live. I’d love to spend more time sailing and learning how! At the moment I just follow instructions on which rope to pull 😆
Happy to help anyone wanting to practice and improve their English 😊

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to cook an awesome vegetarian or vegan dinner (I do occasionally eat meat and seafood, however I eat plant based most of the time, and that is what I am comfortable cooking!). I’m very into healthy food so it will be probably healthy! I make a great salad (can make more than just salad don’t worry).

Love a good chat about shared interests over a cuppa, and learning something new about a place or person. I love listening to life and travel stories.

Also keen to go dancing! Not night clubbing so much (ok, maybe sometimes), but Salsa, bachata, that kind of thing. I’m only at an improver level, so can’t really teach you, but happy to practice if you also at least know the basics.

I don’t really drink alcohol, so won’t join you for beers, it’s ok if you do of course! 🙂

Of course I will also treat your space with respect, help to keep it clean and tidy, just like I would at home.
