About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To experience new places and new people through open hearted adventures!
PHILOSOPHY
There's a quote: "Be the change you want to see in the world". I do my best to live my life in full integrity, to walk on the planet lightly, joyfully and work hard to make it a better place for others.
I have been a naturalist and environmentalist since I was a kid but also love working with people. As a teacher I bring awareness to youth about the diversity of the Earth and it's inhabitants.
As a performer I make people smile and move to the rhythms of rockin' music.
Always seeking to make the world a more just and more fun place to be!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
A friend of mine recently told me about the CS project and her positive experiences traveling in South America through this cultural exchange. For years I traveled with a project called WWOOF (willing workers on organic farms) trading my time and work for knowledge about farming in different countries as well as make new friends through intercultural experiences.
I am excited to begin traveling again, meet and stay with locals and practice/improve my Spanish. First stop, Colombia!
In the future I would like to host international travelers at my home in California as well.
Interests
I am a positive outgoing person with many interests. I love the outdoors, hiking biking and swimming are two of my favorites. I'm also a bit of a nature geek and love learning about plants and mushrooms. I love gardens.
Another favorite pastime for me is music and dance. I study Brazilian drumming and dancing and perform with a circus arts troupe playing drums on stilts.
Rhythm makes my spirit smile and I love to dance!
I plan to salsa a LOT in Colombia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2004 a bunch of people from all different parts of the world bought a school bus, converted it to run on vegetable oil and feel like a home on the inside. We drove this bus, named Angelito from San Francisco CA to the border of Costa Rica and Panama. Along the way we did outreach projects with universities community agricultural and government projects. Angelito was in the press a LOT and quite famous throughout Mexico. People knew him when we drove by from being on T.V.
We created a ripple effect of ideas as many people had never seen some of the alternative technologies that powered Angelito, such as solar and biofuels, along with such an eclectic international community. Since the caravan we have been in contact with many groups in Central America that make their own biofuels and green technologies.
