About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Semi-hedonism! OK, not really. Current missions include: changing the world, learning about the Commons, smashing norms, having copious amounts of fun, fighting oppression, building community, making sweet music, and staying sane. So far so good!

ABOUT ME

"If we asked your best friends about you, what kinds of things would they say?"

They'd tell you I'm nuts but lovable! I'm really enthusiastic about the things I do, and I do some wacky things. I decided two months ago to stop paying rent and live in a van, which is so far very difficult and very great. I work giving care to folks with disabilities and autism. I try to change the world through activism and the commons. I like to smash norms and the state; I love a good conversation and love people who are honest. I have a spoiled cat who I love, and I love my dear friends most of all.

PHILOSOPHY

COMMONS REVOLUTION.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am brand-new to couch surfing, but have friends who've had roaring successes with it. An upcoming, short-notice, low-budget trip to London inspired me to get online, and I'm looking forward to what adventures may ensue!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None officially through this site yet, though I do delight in meeting new folks, experiencing (temporary and longer-term)shared housing situations, and having adventures.

Interests

Music: I play celtic and american fiddle, and Zimbabwean mbira. I love all sorts of music from all over the world.

Commons and Activism: I believe in the power of the Commons to offer an alternative system to market and state control. I work on various activist things near my home, and am a member of the Radical Commons Working Group at the Ostrom Workshop on Political Theory and Policy Analysis at Indiana University (http://www.iub.edu/~workshop/colloquia/workinggroups/index.php), which is where most of my traveling comes from these days.

vandwelling, insanity and brilliance, adventures, being an extrovert, transformational honesty, softball and stick-fighting, hedonism, gift economies, solidarity, and many other things that I can't think of at this moment.

Saw the Costa Rican cloud forests.
Saw my first national Rainbow Gathering, which was a ridiculous experiment in people collectively self-organizing their part of the world.
Had amazing dialogues with many great people.
