Overview
About Me
I am a young at heart, wise with antidotes and learn from experiences. I have resigned from my ongoing teaching position after 15 years. I learnt the hard way by mucking up at school, however i took a chance back in the late 80's and travelled and worked the world for 5 years. I worked from jobs including accounting office work to Chef on a private motor Yacht in the states. I returned to Australia and went back to school and spent 6 years learning to learn again. I have taught media studies and humanities to hundreds of kids. I would love to improve my photography and filmmaking skills so that one day I can make quality documentary films. If not teach through filmmakers without borders. I am completing a radio production course atm and learning how to improve my blog writing skills.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travelling through many countries for a long period of time after resigning my full time teaching job. Rather than always staying at hostels and hotels with people who are visiting, I would like to get to know a country through the people who live there. The idea of doing a country bores me and so does a bucket list, I want to get to understand the world through the people, not just through tourist sites.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love all styles of music however I do love pop culture such as Madonna, Annie Lennox, etc. I do love live bands, and music that is link to local communities.
I am a media/film teacher so films that are well crafted, indie films that focus on production values and great scripts, therefore Stanley Kubrick films. Other films that I love include American Beauty, Donny Darko, Run Lola Run. I also favour Documentary films and was influenced by Alby Mangels back in the day.
Books I love include mystery, but also the classics like to Kill a Mockingbird. I often read Essays rather than novels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My girlfriend and I travelled from Venezuela overland through the border of Brazil, took a boat up the Rio Negro onto the Amazon River to Manaus then a ferry to Belem. We then travelled to Fortaleza and to a remote place Jerricocia. We did this back in 1992 with no travel guides, no phones, no idea actually. Only some years later when i met a guy from Brazil he couldn't believe that we actually made it out alive.
