About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Do everything I can to make me and those around me smile; try everything once; try and make a difference; be kind to the world.

ABOUT ME

If you take every day individually and try to be the happiest you can be on that day then you've got it right.

If there is a mountain then go to the summit; if there is a river then swim in it; if there is a puddle, jump in it; if there is a tree then climb it; if there is a conker, put a string on it; if it rains, dance in it.

Watch the sun rise in the company of your friends; if you think a stranger has fabulous hair, tell them; if you can make someone happy then do it; if the dance floor is empty, be the catalyst. Be your own person. Try everything once. Never let an opportunity escape.

PHILOSOPHY

"I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center." ~ Kurt Vonnegut (novelist)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have made friends for life by couchsurfing. I surf and I host because I get to meet so many more people. Everyone out there has something to teach me, and I'm keen to learn it. I will share anything I can to anyone who asks.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There has never been a dull moment. Such great friends, generous and loving people.

Interests

Sharing ideas with the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love listening to bluegrass, folk, country, blues, jazz, classic rock. I also play guitar and sing in a little Manchester-based folk band.

Movies: All kinds, though I tend not to have time for movie watching. The Princess Bride is up there as a favourite.

Books: Love to read. Everything and anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been lucky with all my experiences–diving with whale sharks, seeing komodo dragons, the people I've met, the places I've been. I wouldn't change a second of it for the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a scientist, a scuba diver and a musician (guitar mainly) and would be happy to teach you anything I know. It might not be too much, but perhaps it would be interesting.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cambodia, Cayman Islands, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar, New Zealand, Portugal, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Greece, Malaysia, Tanzania, Thailand, United Kingdom, Wales
