About Me

A seeker, a traveller, always looking to learn, explore, experience.
I grew up in a small town in the central East Coast of Greece, treking the mountain nearby and skiing in the winter, spending lots of time by the sea when the weather was hot.
At 17 I left for England, eager to explore the world. I studied and worked my way through and ended up staying in the UK for six years, at which point I thought I'd give Greece a try as an adult. I got to work (by chance) in various fields of the tourism industry, so I was always interacting with people from different countries, which is something I love.
After some time moving locations from different parts of the mainland to the islands, I ve recently settled in Athens with a stray cat who adopted me on the way.
I love meeting different people from different backgrounds, tasting different foods, and getting to know other cultures and habits. Even as a kid, I loved the outdoors, swimming in the sea or skiing in the winter. I love deep conversations about the meaning of love, life and the universe, as much as I love having a laugh and descovering the best place to get pizza and ice cream.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I 've always hosted friends, or friends of friends, or friends of friends of friends (you get the picture) on couches, mattresses on the floor, or spare rooms wherdever I was at. Now I have a stable base again, I thought I'd get back into it, and the people on Couchsurfing seem to be real travellers who are eager to interact and learn, which is what I enjoy myself.
I m also eager to share "my" Athens and "my" Greece with people, and couchsurfing seems to provide a good platform to do that. I've only just joined, so I'm new at this, but very excited to be on board!

Interests

since I was 5 yrs old I knew I wanted to act. I first got to act in a professional play when I was 14, and kept training and exploring acting despite my family's fierce opposition to it.
Understanding my own and other people's motives, psychological make up, and human nature has always been of interest to me, and although acting gave me an outlet for expression, it wasn't enough. In my 20s I got involved with tai chi, and later with yoga, while trying different psychotherapy approaches (drama therapy, psychodrama, body psychotherapy etc). All of them helped when I really needed help going through a depression, and later thyroid cancer, and they are still activities that take up a lot of my time. I love practicing them, talking about them, and sharing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have to confess I love Greek music, mainly the young modern artists who are bringing in a fresh approach. But I'll easily listen to a whole variety of things, from classical to mainstream pop, and from solfegio frequencies to David Bowie and the Beatles.
It really depends on the mood.

Movies, too many to mention, here's a few: anything directed by Aronofsky (The Fountain, Black Swan, etc), The Harry Potter series, Lord of The Rings, The Devil Wears Prada, Romeo and Juliet, Interstellar, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Ink, Baahubali, Slumdog Millionaire, Il Postino (the Postman), Like hot Water for Chocolate, any Almodovar film, Ever After (the list can go on...but I'll end it here)

Books : The Nine Faces of Jesus, some Greek books yet not translated in English, The Celestine Prophecy, I enjoy reading Paulo Coehlo's books, though I haven't done for some time, Godesses in Every Woman.
generally I enjoy books that touch on philosophy, books explaining myths and archetypes, psychology and yoga and the eastern philosophies.
