About Me
CURRENT MISSION
We have just re-located to Germany after spending some time travelling.
ABOUT US
We are originally from India (Vishnu is from Kerala and Ritu is from Delhi). We spent a considerable part of our career working in India and the UK, and have spent as much free time as possible travelling and meeting travelers from around the world. We tend to be carefree, fun loving and open minded on most of our days! We love the idea that the life and perceptions we have built all our life can change from simple events, words, a chance encounter, a book, a song or a movie. We are vegetarians, but we are not fuzzy about what we get on the plate (as long as its vegetarian!).
PHILOSOPHY
Currently trying to talk less and listen more.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We loved the idea and philosophy of Couchsurfing right from the start. It's a short life and there is no point making it complicated, and the quickest way to know more about the world is to accept guests, stay with locals during our travels and meet up with travelers as much as possible. CS is an amazing tool with which you can do all of this and much more.
We have hosted travelers in India and UK, surfed couches in many countries and hosted/attended CS events. Many of the CS'ers we have met have become close friends in our life and we remain in touch with them to this day. It is impossible to put in words how our lives have been enriched thanks to random couchsurfing encounters.
Interests
Long term travel, backpacking. Hiking. Movies from around the world. Music from around the world, especially folk and traditional. Random radio channels in the internet (thank you Radio Garden!). Cooking (learning and teaching).

Music, Movies, and Books
Most of Bill Bryson, Paulo Coelho, Micheal Crichton. On the Road. Upmananyu Chatterjee. Intimacy. Survivor. Fight Club. The Dice Man. All of Tom Sharpe. Most recently Paul Theroux and Laurie Lee.
Too young in life to even describe any favourite movie - most of our early film experiences have been a mishmash of great hits in various Indian languages. We are catching up with films from other parts of the world now and its a long way to go before generalizing! Some of our recent favorites include: Avaze gonjeshk-ha (The Song of Sparrows), The Syrian Bride, Vals Im Bashir, Eyyvah eyvah, Le grand voyage, Life in a day, 180° South, The way, Bikur Ha-Tizmoret (The Bands Visit), Starbuck, Salmer fra kjøkkenet (Kitchen Stories), Gadjo dilo, Underground, Elling, Allegro non troppo, Gangs of Wasseypur, Soul kitchen, Locke, Stalker.
We love to hear folk music and classical music from all parts of the world. We tend to listen to random bands and artists from hearsay. Just like films, its a long way to go and we are yet to settle down on a favorite artist list. We have spent the last few months listening to a lot of Coke Studio Pakistan, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Philip Koutev choir, Abida Parveen, Shashank & Fleet Foxes.
