======================================
Hello there!
My name is Vitor and I was born in the giant city Sao Paulo, Brazil.
My life story is quite confusing, yet sort of interesting. Born in a global city, grew up in South Brazil and finished my Bachelors there. Although we speak mostly Portuguese in Brazil, due to Austrian-Italian roots of my family, I always had least one relative around speaking either Italian and quite rarely German as well. Well, not the standard languages exactly, rather the dialects. Nonetheless, that always made me curious how their culture, languages and the world history overall. That is why, during my studies in Brazil, I applied for scholarships to study in Europe.
In 2013 I stayed in Aachen for one year as an exchange student. It also an amazing year, I met people from all over the world, got in contact with top-notch research institutes and lived the experience of living abroad.
After that period, I worked as an intern in Hanover and Regensburg, all in Germany. During this time, had a really hard time finding friendships at work, where everybody was at least 4 years older and didn't have much interest of going out. Because I could not host people in my WG, I decided to organize a weekly language tandem event with a friend of mine in Hannover, always posted in Couchsurfing and Facebook. The memories of this time still bring me laughters and the warming feelings of the best friendships that I have ever had in my life. Moreover, getting in contact people of the whole planet just shows how much I still have to learn, comprehend and be thankful for all the things I had in my life.
In this meantime, I went back to Brazil, where I finished my Mechanical Engineering degree. I also worked as an English and German teacher to pay my bills. Fortunately, I got accepted for a Master Program at the RWTH Aachen University, and since October I've been studying again in Aachen. I could not be happier living again in this high-tech, friendly and cosy German city. Even more now that I am part of the local Couchsurfing community. =D
PHILOSOPHY
Live everyday trying to make something different. Even it turns out bad, you will learn something and you will grow up, becoming again a person a little more different than you were before and probably happier.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Whenever I can, I try to host people. Because I've been moving from city to city quite often and didn't have the most open-minded flatmates, I couldn't easily host anyone. I hosted people when I lived with my parents, or when my flatmates allowed me to do so. Besides, I couchsurfed in Prag, Munich, Rotterdam and Milan. =D =D =D
Sometime ago me and a friend decided to come up with a new event for the international community in Hanover. And so it was founded the "International Café", an event that takes place every Sunday in a very charming and pleasant student neighborhood in Hanover. Every week locals and travelers reunite them for a nice chat, improve their foreign language skills and meet new people. Maybe the greatest thing about all this is that, even after I left that city, that event kept going on thanks to other people that loved the idea and kept the group alive. =D =D
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, perfect. I couldn't be more suprise to meet people from all places around the world, especially from Europe. It is specially satisfying to know, that there are so many people out there with same interests, open-minded, ready to show a new point of view about life. =D
Interests
Reading books, listening music, learning new languages, try to learn to play the guitar, dancing (although I am not a good dancer ='( ) and mainly, meeting people, as for me a unique way to understand the world in different perspectives. I am curious about other cultures as fu**. =)
I like sports as well, specially jogging. I run two half-marathons and I expect to run another two next year. If everything works out, then my next step will be a marathon. But that will require a lot of training.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Host a group of language exchange in Hannover with locals and travelers as participants. It is beautiful to be able to connect people, make them comfortable and at the same time, learn so much about their countries, culture and language. For me, this feeling creates an endless flow of retribution and happiness for all people around you, proving for us all we are at same degree all equal, all human, all people. =D =D =D
The German intensive course that I attended in Leipzig was also unique, because I could meet people from all around the planet, and at the same time, learn this language that I like so much.
Another thing was not a thing I've done, but what I rather experienced. I met a girl in a Couchsurfing meeting in Germany who loves Brazilian Portuguese and was desperately to learn the language and the Brazilian culture. She even could sing a song without accent. I have never met somebody that was so in love with the Brazilian culture and was not a Brazilian.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my unforgettable experiences that I had so far in Europe, mainly in Germany. Cultural differences, crazy stories and unique experiences. I want to learn Italian and Spanish, two language that I really like whose countries fascinate me a lot.
