About Me

Hello! My name's Viva, and I'm a musician and DJ from London. Though I was born here, I have family all over the world and my heritage is South African, Chilean and Welsh… I’m lucky to travel with my work, so I really feel like a ‘citizen of the world’ and the life I’m trying to build is semi-nomadic.

I love to meet new people, make new connections and explore all forms of culture and nature. I’m in a chapter of life where I feel more and more rooted in the joy of sharing and learning with others, finding and amplifying the beauty in this sometimes cruel world, living in the present and learning from the past to build a better future.

My degree is in politics and development studies, and I love to discuss our current global situation with those who also enjoy this. I’m very interested in tracing the history of how we found ourselves living in this current paradigm, and what we can do as contemporary citizens to push back against injustice.

I would say I’m an extroverted introvert, and while I’m a sociable person, I also need a bit of downtime by myself to recharge my batteries. I really love spending time with animals and find this one of the most healing and rewarding activities.

I really love my work as an artist / dj / musician, and I try to live my life consciously, nurturing my artistic practice and finding meaning, lessons and inspiration everywhere. For me solo travel is a big part of that and I try to go on at least one solo trip a year :)

I’ve met some amazing people through Couchsurfing and am grateful to be a part of the community
