About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm from Venice Beach, California and hope one day you can visit there. :) I love the beach, canals, and walk streets in my hometown. As an adult, on temporary stints or visits home, I've enjoyed getting to learn about all the other neighborhoods in Los Angeles from Koreatown to the Downtown Arts District to...any one of our distinct neighborhoods!
I love living abroad and studying languages, and have spent over 3 years since junior year of high school living in China, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Mexico, with most time spent in China. I can speak Mandarin with ease, and hold basic conversations in Spanish. Goals are to learn Korean and Portuguese and maybe relearn basic Bahasa Indonesia!
I was recently living abroad for 2 months in Mexico, and I hope to return to Mexico, and also explore way more of Latin America.
I love food. My absolute favorite thing to do when traveling is discover new cheap delicious food. I also love to cook vegan or vegetarian food and cook for other people! My favorite moments probably all involve shared food and conversation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really want to host! I've been so nomadic that this hasn't been so possible yet. But as soon as I have a job in one place and an extra room(or simply a comfortable couch) and roommates that agree, I will host as well as surf. : )
Interests
Cooking and eating, reading, listening to music, watching movies in cinemas, biking and swimming, hearing people's stories.
Music, Movies, and Books
Daughter and grandaughter of librarians. I read a lot, mainly novels, sometimes graphic novels...
It might be the LA influence, but I love going to movie theaters to see movies.
When I was living in the Twin Cities, Minnesota last year, I was so happy that there was a $2.00 movie theater.
I also watch a lot of tv on streaming apps. Recent shows I finished and enjoyed: Man in the High Castle, Carlos, The Wire, Orange is the New Black, Fleabag, Transparent, Love.
While in Mexico I tried to listen to Spanish as much as possible. Some nice Spanish music: Carla Morrison, Caloncho, Natalia Lafourcade. Orishas, Calle 13
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So many. Snorkeling in the Phillipines(with help from a couchsurfing host!!) was actually quite amazing and new to me, and I'd like to try snorkeling again.
