About Me

Born in Ukraine, lived there for 22 years. As a child, I was good at math and coding and that allowed me to pass Facebook interview and come to California for work. After little bit more that 1 year I discovered that my true passion is people and I want to make them happier and not connected. And so I left the best company in the world to travel and learn. Now I'm on a 1-year journey around the world (after US I'm going to Europe and Asia) and looking forward to meet and learn from other people and their cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My goal for this year is to meet as many people as possible and grew up as a person.

Interests

I'm really fascinated with human brain and intelligence in general. Questions like 'how do we remember stuff?', 'why do we make certain decisions?', 'how do you measure difference between actor and sportsman' constantly arise in my mind. That's my biggest obsession and I really hope to work in this area in a couple of years.

Aside from that, chess, DotA, science in general. Can't really say that I don't like something except mindless routine work.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately going with some relaxing music, like piano and violin. Or just melody without lyrics. Guys like George Davidson and Jann Tiersen are among my favorite. In the past I was listening metal a lot, but now I can't find right surroundings except gym for it.

Most of IMDB-250 is fine, though prefer drama and movies that leave you speechless for a moment or at least inspire. Like, Gone Girl made me speechless, Interstellar inspired.

Books - most antiutopias, like 1984 or Brave New World, Island. Thinking: Fast and Slow, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2013 I came to live in US and wanted to do something big to celebrate it. Ended up crossing US on motorcycle in 10 days, starting at Washington, DC and finishing in San Francisco. Easily best thing I have ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach about coding, math or neuroscience a bit.

Want to learn about everything, will gladly land a hand for cooking.

Countries I’ve Visited

Nepal, Netherlands, Thailand, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In
