About Me

Hi there,

I'm Vladimir (or just Vova - my short name), originally from St. Petersburg, Russia. I've lived in Brussels for 4 years and moved to Geneva in Jan 2018.

I'm trying to travel as much as I can - yes, once you get hooked on this, you will never be the same again... So short trips, long trips, weekend trips, day trips are very big part of my life.
During the travelling i find it very enriching to meet people and to learn from them. Anything. Culture, stories, skills, whatever... i think everyone could be an interesting person - one just have to find a key :)
I think the best way to learn more about different people and cultures is to speak their language, so i'm a big fan of languages. Other than Russian and English (must-have traveler's language) i can have discussions in French, German, Spanish and Dutch. I also learn Italian, but unfortunately it doesn't go too quickly...
I'm a huge music fan - listening, playing and singing. I used to play oboe, when i was a kid, but since then i've fallen in love with guitar and piano.
Also I can't live without sports. My favourite are Basketball, Football, Table tennis, Squash, Swimming, Volleyball, Surfing and Petanque :) But my latest love is rock climbing - i think it's the best sports ever...
I also do quite a lot of reading and photography. + i enjoy the board games.

One other thing i absolutely adore is philosophical discussion: about society, psychology, behavior, motivation, sometimes politics (even though i'm quite weak in it), happiness, and so on...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Obviously to meet new people while travelling or hosting during their traveling. Letting other people add colors to my life is an amazing thing i'll try to do until the end.
