About Me
CURRENT MISSION
The eternal quest for the perfect salad dressing
ABOUT ME
I'm optimistic, happy, relaxed and flexible. I don't need action all the time, I like sunny days in the sticks and nights in the city just as much as comfy evenings on the couch.
I'm originally from Germany but have been living in Oslo for a few years. I'm surrounded by brilliant people from all over the world, and as much as I like living in Norway, the people around me is what it's all about.
PHILOSOPHY
- Life is not too short at all.
- Training is just another form of cheating.
- The best time to plant a tree was 40 years ago. The second best time is now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm happy to host visitors to Oslo for a couple of days, make them feel welcome and comfortable and show them the city if there is time and interest.
I'm not very active in the local CS community, but have met a few local chaps at the Musikkfest Invasion event in 2010, and will hopefully manage to show up at the odd monthly meeting.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests
I like cooking and mixing drinks, and experimenting with tastes.
I play drums and like having jam sessions with friends, and unless you are traveling on a very tight budget there are lots of good places we can go to for all sorts of life music.
I'm interested in organizational theory and practice, and prefer playing in a team over sweating by myself.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like cleverly made movies that can be seen multiple times, which each time something new to discover, like Memento. I like most of what the Coen brothers do. Otherwise preferably dramas or thrillers - I'm not a big fan of comedies, although I think that "Some Like it Hot" is one of the best movies ever made.
Books - too many and probably no clear pattern or obvious preference. I enjoy authors like de Bernieres, Paul Auster, Ian McEwan, McCall Smith.
Music - Metal, Rock, Classical (ca 1800 and later), Jazz, some Blues, Latin, Electronic. Usually not getting carried away by Techno, R&B, Hip Hop and the majority of the mainstream, and what's the point in listening to music when you don't get carried away? Life-music is always a winner, preferably small venues. There are a few of those in Oslo, and if you are not traveling on a very small budget I'll be happy to take you to some.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing the Great Wall of China, landing on the beach of Frasier Island, tasting wine in New Zealand, swimming with Sea Lions and diving with Turtles around the Galapagos, standing naked in the sunset with a bunch of Finnish guys (also naked).
Teach, Learn, Share
I think I'm getting close to the perfect salad dressing. I'm not a vegetarian and most of my "signature dishes" are made *of* vegetarians rather than for them - but happy to try and learn something new! Tell me if you have food-political requirements or limitations, and either way great if you want to introduce me to a dish from your region or inspire my taste-buds otherwise!
I mix a few wicked cocktails, but only on weekends or if I can sleep a bit longer the next day.
If you bring an instrument or play one that I have, then we can jam.
