When I lived in Minsk, I used to go to one cinema every Monday. It is hidden in the industrial part of the city, probably only locals and cinema mateurs know about it. Here for the first time I saw Antonioni, Bertolucci, Buñuel, Fellini Forman, Kieslowski, Tarkovsky, etc on a big screen.

Recently I have discovered an Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke, "best known for his bleak and disturbing style".
