About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to host people in Istanbul

ABOUT ME

My name is Siarhei. I born and grew up in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, so nice, so beautiful and amazing country in the centre of Europe but so different from the other European countries. From early childhood I loved to open something new, try to get farther than I am. Find out what's on the horizon, in a strange place to me. And feel the difference, surprising simple things that most people overlook. I am currently studying for a master's degree about protection and interpretation of cultural heritage in European Humanities University. I love travelling and anything that connect with it. More important for me is to feel the place through interacting with local people, learning more about their culture, try to understand their way of living, understand their problems. I prefer all this more than doing those typical mass tourist things. But i'm also keen on seeing places, including architecture, museums, nature, love to try local food and doing the typical local job. Few years ago I started to use hospitality exchange networks and combine with the hitchhiking during traveling. And I caught the travel bug. More, more and farther. I love people, especially who are not afraid to see the world with own eyes and people that free from prejudice. So, you are welcome on my page!

PHILOSOPHY

You can probably write a lot of different things. Pay it forward and and let a second chance. And another thing what is also important to note. Do not be fooled, do not lie to yourself, and you'll be happy. And let's first buy beer!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Once, studying modern processes in the society, I pointed out that CS Project and other hospitality exchange networks occupy an important role in the world. In the future, maybe in bachelor work, I'm going to study how cs influence on practice of hospitality..or something like that.
And of course I try to talk about this project my frends and people who help to explore all around. I'm telling that the world has a lot of interesting ideas. And couchsurfing is one of them. It provides many ways to see our world, people, their culture and traditions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Оnce upon a time, after the first year of university me and my ex-girlfriend came home from Spain. It was long hitch-hiking across Europe. As usually happens there are no cars on the road or drivers did't want to pick us up. We had with us one djembe(made in Morocco) which we bought in Ceuta and we knew his magical power. For a long time we drummed, danced and spoke the magical texts and finally it worked! A solid-looking guy in a huge Jeep has responded to our request for a lift. From the conversation we learned that this guy comes back from Morocco. After a short conversation the guy offered us something like a piece of candy. Hitchhikers always want to know something new.
- Ou! Is it a true delicacy from Morocco?
- Of course my friend and you have a chance to try it.
Then I asked myself, 'why not?' I have an unique opportunity. I took the candy, and carefully break one half of it (the size was like a small finger) and put it in my mouth. The other half gave to my travel buddy. 'Nice, unusual taste.. pepper one.. mm!!' - she commented. After a while, we asked the driver to stop, as he turned in another direction. Thanked him for saving us and were ready to get out.. But the driver nervously asked us:
- Where's my stuff?
- 0_0 !?!
- My candy which I gave you half an hour ago!!
- We ate it all. Totally.
- WTF?!! All piece of my hashish?!
His face was pale. He dropped us out on unilluminated parking and disappeared into the darkness of the night. After 10 minutes we have found difficulty with speech. After 20 minutes we were not able to stand on the legs. And finally after two and half days we were able to get up and continue hitchhikе. Be careful:)
