About Me

(My HOUSE is NOT in SINGAPORE)

CURRENT MISSION

Live life as one big adventure and see more of this world.

I only pay subscription when I am traveling. You can tell if I am not active for a while- means I cannot access this except for an email request I cannot reply unless you leave me your WhatsApp number.

I am also on BeW******.

ABOUT ME

A native of Kuching who have previously stayed in Melbourne and Singapore and now call JB home for the past 15 years.

Have traveled extensively in Thailand, Java and Northern Sumatra. Extending my travel destination with the expansion of the budget airline routes.

PHILOSOPHY

I live to travel. And travel allows me the chance to try all sort of different foods.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Used to take the buses on the Western side of JB. Can provide fairly up-to-date info on getting around by bus here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted a few CSs and help share new cultural , historical and geo-political insights.

Once you arrive, I will try to take care of all your needs before your next destination whether it is being fed a home cooked meal(please no more OFFERS to COOK for me) or go DUTCH when dining out. Just try to leave my place like the way it was before you came.

Interests

Hiking, nature and food. Climbed Mt. Kinabalu, G.Sinabing, G. Sibayak and been to Bromo and Krakatua.(the later four are all active volcanoes)

Haven't had the chance to go on a a safari but have seen gibbons swinging on the trees, huge noisy hornills thunder across my path, owls near my home and sea otters at the Sungei Buloh nature park.

Music, Movies, and Books

Used to like European arthouse movies and seen a few Korean movies like "You are my Sunshine","My Tutor Friend", "My Sassy Girl","Almost Love" and "A Time for Romance".

Bands from the 90s like Roxette, Ace of Base, Crowded House and Bryan Adams.

Used to read ghost stories. Now settle on travel books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing a plain clothes Laotian soldier load up his AK-47 next to me and fire a few shots into pitch darkness. Thought we were getting robbed by bandits but things are not always as they seem.

Near death experience climbing in the rain and darkness up Gunung Sinabung and shivering thinking I may suffer hyperthermia while sleeping soaking wet on a piece of rock that night.

Teach, Learn, Share

Do your homework to avoid culture shocks.

If you come prepared, no need to worry about touts and popular scams.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Travel stories and cultural exchange.

I would go the extra mile to host or find a host for you when you travel to my part of the world.

If all the stars align(plan way ahead free from work commitments), I may be able to bring you on a Malaysian road trip from this Southern tip through to historic Malacca, capital Kuala Lumpur, dim sum city Ipoh and end on the gastromic paradise that is Penang Island.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Indonesia, Laos, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Malaysia
