About Me

I'm a Vietnamese college student currently studying in Saint Paul, MN, USA. I've traveled quite a bit, and always look for opportunities to have the best traveling experience possible whenever I have the chance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of my biggest regrets about my previous travel experience is that I kept to myself too much: I'm slightly introverted, so I did not interact much with local people, which in retrospect became a missing piece in my understanding and memories of the places I went. I hope by doing Couchsurfing, not only will I have a great accommodation experience, but also meet amazing people that I would otherwise never have the opportunity to know!

Interests

I spend most of my time (when I'm not studying I mean) browsing social media, cooking and eating food I like, browsing recipes to try new things, looking at some potentially interesting books, and making future travel plans whenever possible. I'm also pretty proud of the photos I take, thought I'm not a professional by any means.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm pretty deep into K-pop and K-dramas, though I'm not a big fan of any particular groups, singers or actors. I listen to a fair share of US-UK music, and am willing to branch out to where YouTube and SoundCloud lead me to.

I almost exclusively read fictions. All-time favorite books include Harry Potter series, The Book Thief, I Am the Messenger, All the Light We Cannot See, The Nightingale, A Man Called Ove, etc. (yes most of them are quite depressing, unfortunately).

Movies...uh it's kinda hard to say, since I don't have a specific favorite genre. Rom-coms are okay, thriller -- it depends, no horror movies please, and I don't like superheroes movies (except for the X-Men series). Usually I find myself liking Asian movies more than Western ones, but it also depends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Uhm...I find my life pretty ordinary, but I once got hit by a car (not my fault I swear – thankfully he braked in time), and I refused to get an ambulance because I was worried I would miss my bus...

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're interested in anything Vietnamese (cooking, language, or just learning about the country), I'd be glad to help you. Play badminton, ride a scooter, take a decent photo, mess up with some computer software (I'm pretty good at figuring computer-related stuff), if any of that sounds good to you, let me know!

Honestly willing to learn anything and everything, because there's so much I don't know. Deeply interested in languages and cuisine, but if you know how to row a boat, or do first-aid, or dance any kind of dances, I'd be up to that too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Conversations, jokes (I hope you find them funny, but I won't be offended if you don't), some Vietnamese souvenirs if you're interested, and stories from where I've visited. I also bake (though I have limited experience), so if you love cakes – especially cheesecakes – I'd love to share some with you.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Canada, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Myanmar, Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Switzerland, United States, Viet Nam
