Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION: Completing final sections of multi-year circumnavigation of the United States - Aspen to Bar Harbor to Key West.
Traveling, skiing, swimming, photography and writing.
ABOUT ME
Have lived in Colorado Springs, Denver/Boulder, Aspen, Vail, Crested Butte, and this past year San Diego and Seattle. Love living in Colorado and California as a base and exploring the rest of the world.
PHILOSOPHY
I show up. That's most of life. Beyond that I'm eternally and endlessly curious. The more I travel, the more I'm amazed by what a beautiful, wonderful world we live in and that it's occupied mostly by wonderful, kind, interesting, fun people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I began hosting at my home in suburban Colorado Springs in 2010 as a way to be part of the community; share what was a pretty big home; and enlarge the group of people I was meeting beyond what was a pretty conservative and affluent base. It was wonderful and I'm still close friends with one of my guests.
I believe in the power and worth of community and shared stories and experiences.
Interests
I enjoy a variety of sports but am mostly a serious swimmer, hiker, skier and also enjoy sailing and if fortune shines on me I love flying and gliders. Beyond those I'm easily amused and rarely have a day that I don't find something wonderful. I do enjoy art, galleries, museums and of course reading and books. Sadly my German Shepherd you see in my photos passed away two years ago - so I love animals - particularly dogs, horses and cats.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read, listen to, and watch just about anything - if I think it's good or interesting. I enjoy being surprised.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have completed 1/5th of my book Perimeter. It has been very challenging and is more of an expedition than a road trip. Skiing the Chutes at Breckenridge was actually pretty amazing. I recently went into waves that I thought were way too big. I first flew a Cessna 152 at 15 - on my own dime. I drove to the airport with my learner's permit, took off, and found my little home in the southwest Suburbs of Chicago. Actually, that was pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Web building, internet development, climbing, skiing, bicycling, motorcycling, cars, writing, photography, Apple computers, Adobe and other creative software, business, drawing, painting, ceramics.
I'd like to learn more languages. I took French and Spanish in college and was terrible at both but had passion. So right now I'm hoping to begin to explore my interest in languages again.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a lot of stories from my travels in the Western United States while working on my book. I've lived in a lot of places and met lots of interesting people. Being a parent was the hardest thing I've ever done.
