ABOUT ME

I am Vietnamese; I spent 4 years in Singapore, before I graduated from college in Pennsylvania, USA and settled in NYC as a software developer. My other passions include writing, filmmaking, ethnographic researching. I am an INTJ if you know what Myers Briggs is, but I also firmly believe that MBTI is completely pseudoscience. I possess the attention span of a kitten and the status quo wears me out, which is why I love being constantly on the move, meeting more, learning more, being exposed to more, and changing myself along the way.

I have both surfed and hosted.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been both a host and a surfer on Couchsurfing, and have been absolutely blown away by the hospitality of people. I did a backpack trip across Europe solo once without speaking any other language than English, and I wouldn't have survived without the help of kind hosts. I also enjoyed hosting when I lived in a tiny room in London -- all are absolutely amazing experiences.

Interests

Any type of fiction really, psychological movies, rock/pop/alternative music, society commentary, thoughts, human. Also, filmmaking, psychology, sociology, some really general physics, dancing, singing, cooking, traveling (of course), hiking, photography, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: simply too many - the latest favorite is Hard Candy, chilling performance by Ellen Page.
Music: Pink is my favorite pop singer, I worship Aguilera's voice. Currently listening to Kimbra, Marina and the Diamonds, Aimee Mann, Within Temptation, and just way too many more to list all here. Oh and I was obsessed about ABBA while growing up.
Books: favorite novelist of all time is Ray Bradbury, especially The Martian Chronicle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Directing short films. Might be nothing impressive, but sharing the final product is the best feeling in the world for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share with you lots of (basic) trivia on psychology, sociology, technology and a long rant on the film industry. Also, how similar fast food restaurants and fine dining restaurants can be. Without a doubt, I will offer you endless curiosity, and I hope you will do the same.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer you eclectic stories of living in 4 different countries, waitressing in all types of restaurants, my imagined humanoid embodiment of each country, and probably endless curiosity. I'll also gladly cook for you a somewhat 'authentic' Vietnamese meal as well.
