About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Explore and experience the world - one day at a time
ABOUT ME
My fiance, Meg and I are traveling around India for 6 months. We're hoping to step outside our comfort zones, learn a lot about Indian culture and meet some really great people.
I recently moved out of Portland, where taught bike safety at elementary schools throughout Portland and sold outdoor gear at REI. I shared an apartment in SE Portland with Meg, who was a graduate student at PSU.
I grew up in New Jersey and went to Skidmore College in upstate New York. I studied abroad for one year, a semester studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation in Tanzania, and another studying Geology in New Zealand. Then I spent a year in West Virginia as an AmeriCorps Volunteer at Monongahela National Forest and a year living in Oregon as an AmeriCorps volunteer at the middle school in Oakland.
PHILOSOPHY
Happiness and personal freedom over money and personal possessions. When it comes to work, a wealthy man is one who loves what he does, regardless of income. I love to learn, and am a lifelong student.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently, we are seeking to experience as many aspects and regions in India as we can. We hope to switch up the hostel scene and meet some locals through couchsurfing.
When traveling, I'm looking to meet new people and get beyond the tourists traps when visiting foreign places. I'd prefer to get to know a place pretty well and taking my time to rushing through it in a hurry to get to the next place.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had a lovely couch surf in Wellington, NZ with Lynn and David before headed to Sydney to couch surf with Rowan, then Art. At Art's, one of the fellow surfers was Art - my former host! What a surprise. Another fellow surfer at Art's was Marie, who later couch surfed at my college apartment when she came through the States.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It was the perfect way to end a semester in Tanzania. Me and 4 friends hauled our sorry mzungu selves up the volcano, battling diarrhea and altitude sickness. Glad we got to see the glaciers while they were still there.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you're in a large city and are concerned about scams or pickpockets - they work in pairs. I got pickpocketed once (in a zippered pocket!) because I kept all my attention on the suspicious guy and none on the other guy . . .
