About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to smile and to make everyone smile. rummaging through 19th century archives these days. hope to have a novel ready for your eyes next year :)

ABOUT ME

wonderer and wanderer wandering "Down Under" right now. Wannabe poet and writer :)
Love travelling, and have a knack for the offbeat, the untrodden path. Like to meet people, understand them - their uniqueness, quirks and all. What's the world without its people? Musically, Leonard Cohen is my favourite with Qawwali music running parallel to that.
Lived in student accommodations for a whole decade - so exploring and having fun are a part of me.
Been a literature student, an academic, a journalist, a lecturer, an adventurer.

PHILOSOPHY

this is a factory of disbelief
only that is the truth what you believe

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Been participating a lot in Sydney meetings, with people from all over the world - I don't need to mention nationalities - Sydney is so cosmopolitan. Been there to share people's dreams, jokes, passions. Been there for bushwalks, long talks, climbing rocks. The group's got so much energy. There's so much to learn and share when you're a part of CS

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Like I stated above, it's been great fun. Monthly CS meetings at Pyrmont Bridge Hotel, picnic in Balmain, a cosmpolitan lunch at Coogee, bushwalks in the Blue Mountains, Spanish movies - the list is long and endless. Made great friends for a lifetime.

Interests

interesting minds, bewitching smiles
history, literature, philosophy, randomness, anything that stimulates, challenges, offers food for thought; and also thought for food. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

music exists between 2 poles called nusrat fateh ali khan and mr leonard cohen. there's a lot of other stuff i listen to too - led zep, beatles, early rock, simon n garfunkel, bollywood music :), john lennon solo, kula shaker. anything that is food for love, as shakespeare would say

movies - oh well, am a movie buff. always on the lookout for a nuanced narrative, a great story, because i am a storyteller myself. have taken a fancy to conspiracy theory movies recently - 'the shooter' and 'conspirac theory' are on top of the list for now. recent interest in movies about artists too - saw one about watteau and another about goya recently. and yes, to round off, take my reco and watch torremolino 73. kickass work of art. and yes, am a bollywood buff too.

books: oh well the list's long and longer. most recently been reading very offbeat but very cool books - 'Madame De' by Louise de Velmorin, French writer. A pair of earrings keep changing hands and keep reaching back in Madame's hands. Riveting book about man-woman relationships.
-'The Ides of March' by Valerio Massimo Manfredi. Riveting fiction leading up to the assassination of Julius Caesar.
-'Rose Crossing' By Nicholas Jose who's a friend and a professor in Sydney. East meet West in an unknown island. Wonderful political and personal drama that explores myriad emotions.
Love Marquez, Conrad, Milan Kundera, Pablo Neruda, Vikram Seth...the list goes on

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

wrote and acted in a play, the pet dialogue in which is 'amazing'
that play is called 'the true story of fooko, shoe kriya and fooko in just three acts. mind the commas please'
people with philosophy/literature background would probably understand the puns involved
walked a whole night getting drenched in the rains of istanbul.
changed a flight from tunis to delhi at the last minute after getting to know that 'the little prince' was shot in sahara in tunisia. changed the flight, went down to the desert and dined at 'le petit prince' restaurant.
explored the most unknown and most exciting places in delhi.
if you are a rain person, i already love you :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Can share: Loads of talking about literatures from all over the world; about 19th century history, about poetry. I write poetry, plays and fiction. Would love to share my work and see other people's work. Sufism is an abiding interest and those people interested in eastern esoteric music have a lot to talk with me. Photography is an intense interest with me too. If you have a of of time on hand, we can play chess and bet over it too :)

Want to learn: French, Spanish, Persian, rock climbing, all forms of swimming, tennis.
