About Me

I'm an open minded person who likes and value diversity a lot. I'm also an adventurous person and I really enjoy spending time outdoor with nature. I love to travel and for me it's a lifetime world tour mission!

I consider myself as a mix of extrovert and introvert who enjoys being around people, meeting new people and making new friends while at the same time appreciating my own personal quite time to be with myself.

I started my career as a network analyst in an oilfield services company. After 9 years working there, I took one big decision which is to resign from that decent income job leaving my comfort zone to venture myself into business.

Now, I own and manage a backpackers hostel which is located just within 5 minutes walk from KL Sentral. Having huge passion in backpacking and travelling, I really enjoy what I am doing now. It has been so much fun and exciting especially the continuous opportunity to meet people from all over the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined CS after a friend of mine recommended it for our one month Europe trip in summer 2010. I always wanted to experience travel with the locals, get to know them and make friends and knowing that CS actually exists is a great opportunity for me to achieve that.

"Strangers are just unknown friends" - I found this quote from www.overlandingafrica.com which is indeed very true! It's amazing how we can make friends with strangers in just a very short time and that is exactly what I experienced during most of my travelling time.

I've stayed in friend's house, backpackers' hostels, colleague's house, local people's house (whom I met from travelling, from running my hostel's business and of course from CS as well). The whole experience has indeed been priceless and the people have always been the best! I want to do the same and I want to help others who are coming to Malaysia to bring them especially around Kuala Lumpur. It's all about give and take!

Having running my hostel's business for years and at the same travelling from time to time around the world, it's amazing how I've built a worldwide network of amazing like minded travelling friends who have been helping each other a lot.

At the moment, I'm not able to host at my own place but contact me here on CS and I'm happy to give a couple of nights free stay in my hostel and to help you around KL. Our website is www.podsbackpacker.com

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did static line skydiving for 4 times and during the last jump, I pulled the brake off late causing me to have a hard landing. I fractured my right ankle and ended up being on an air boot for a month. I have no regret to experience such thing and at the same time I am grateful that it wasn't serious and I'm still alive!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share about my country Malaysia, its people and interesting places to visit. I can also teach about Malay language. I love to eat and to try new food so I'm very interested to learn about your local food. I would also like to share and exchange experiences in travelling, backpacking and more!

As a business owner in hospitality, I am more than happy to share and exchange knowledge and expertise in this line. It's wonderful to get to know other business owners in hostel's business and learn from each other. It's also always inspiring to meet new people who are looking forward into doing the same!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook the most famous traditional Malaysian foods - nasi lemak which is rice cooked with coconut milk and served with sambal, peanuts, anchovies and cucumber.
