Originally grew up on a farm, I have now been living in Chicago for over 3 years -- just one block away from one of the few hostels in the city. I've met some of the most amazing and hospitable people when traveling, and hopefully, I can share some of that small-town hospitality with people visiting Chicago.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Honestly, I was skeptical of Couchsurfing at first, but after Couchsurfing my way through Southern Spain, I have become a believer. I now try to get others who are skeptical, like I was, to try it. I think once you see how hospitable Couchsurfers truly are, you trust the program and want even more people to know about it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I Couchsurfed for three weeks with my two friends back in 2006. Sadly, I hadn't created a profile yet at that time (all bookings were done through another person) and wasn't able to build up much of a presence on the site. I then convinced a few friends to try out Couchsurfing again in 2007 while traveling around Europe.
