HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A surfer only thus far, but I may host once I finally get round to cleaning my apartment....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only surfed, but each experience has been unique and enjoyable, and has generally reaffirmed my faith in the goodness of people (well, those that like to travel at least.)

兴趣

The usual: Music, film, travel, studying Japanese, not studying Japanese. I also recently started swing-dancing, which I'm surprisingly good at, and pub quizzing, which I'm unsurprisingly not.

If you like Stevie Wonder, we're friends already. If you don't like Stevie Wonder, that's o.k! You probably just haven't listened to enough Stevie Wonder. Also jazz, funk, soul, minimalism and a bit of enka.

I'm into poetry and scribble the occasional poem on the train to work now and then. I also love Terry Pratchett books, and anything that is remotely similar (just read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.....how did it take me this long!)

Favourite films are even harder to choose than favourite books.....so I'll just say the best film I watched recently was Birdman. There will, however, always be a special place in my heart for Snatch, It's a Wonderful Life and 5 centimetres per second.

But really, moving abroad by myself on a couple of separate occasions has been more than amazing.

Skydiving was pretty cool too.

Unfortunately, Britain doesn't have the most interesting cuisine, although I would be happy to teach you what I know. British English, however, does have a lot going for it in the way of slang, which I would insist on teaching you/confusing you with at every opportunity.

Like most surfers, I'd love to learn about your culture if we don't share the same one.

A broad and open mind - I'm happy talking about anything, from poetry to your favourite Parks and Recreation character. I especially like hearing points of view that differ from my own. Also a fun-loving spirit and a willingness to enjoy every new experience.
