Overview
About Me
ABOUT ME (aka WHO IS THIS STRANGER IN MY REQUESTS INBOX?)
An optimist who is perhaps too polite and respectful at times.
PHILOSOPHY
Leave things as you found them.
Having recently moved to the U.S., I'm interested in exploring this beautiful country on my own - seeing what's out there, meeting new people and experiencing the local area and culture to the fullest extent that I can.
My website is www.waleedali.com if you want to learn more about me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
AM I JUST FISHING FOR A FREE PLACE?
Nope! While I'm perfectly okay with spending a night at a hotel with myself, I use this platform to experience an area a little more intimately than if I had no local connection. I also like meeting hosts that are interested in sharing experiences, culture and wisdom through conversation and maybe a meal.
HOSTING EXPERIENCE
So far, my hosting experience was one that I cherish. (Mehdi if you're reading this, I wish you all the best brother and you're welcome back anytime!).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed in Los Angeles, California while traveling. Along the way, I made some new friends - Glenn, Sagar and Mehdi, my co-surfers in California. I have also stayed in Albuquerque, NM. My host Amanda was very kind and helpful.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Fargo, The Harry Potter series, the Star Wars series, Interstellar, the Marvel universe.
Music: Green Day, Radiohead, Harry Styles, Thievery Corporation, Sigur Ros, Rush, The Beatles, Snarky Puppy, RATM, Queen
Authors: Currently reading Murakami and Shakespeare. I have read Paulo Coelho and David Sedaris' books.
Video Games: I really like my Nintendo Switch! I usually play games like Enter the Gungeon to hit franchises like Pokemon, the Final Fantasy series, and the Legend of Zelda series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been on the peak of Cadillac Mountain where the sunrise first hits the U.S. shores.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can play guitar for or with you. Chances are you may or may not be willing to learn an instrument, but I'll gladly answer any questions you may have. I also wouldn't mind brushing up on my French or Arabic. Merci!
What I Can Share with Hosts
As a foodie, I would love to be your guide to the wonders of South Asian (e.g. Indian, South Indian, Pakistani) cuisine maybe over a meal and especially if it's your first time.
As a musician, I travel with a guitar and an amp, so I'd be happy to teach you how to play your first song on the guitar which is, of course, Wonderwall by Oasis. (Kidding, you can pick any song.)
