About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Connect with the world

ABOUT ME

I lead a pretty tranquil life in the country - with occasional bursts of wild dancing and hysterical laughter. My husband (who is usually here) is a sweet funny crazy artist.

PHILOSOPHY

Sharing is good
I started a SEL (LETs scheme) recently where people exchange stuff and help each other (now defunct but I tried!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love hosting and showing my region to people.
Surfed several times and each time it has been a wonderful experience.

Love travelling and meeting locals when I have the opportunity.

Interests

I play piano and sing in a choir
have phases of reading a lot
enjoy staring at nature - and sometimes looking up what I find in books
love swimming in the sea and sailing
gardening, walking and cycling
dream of rafting down rivers - had one 3-day solo adventure going down semi-navigable river
have goats, bees, 2 pigs and a cat
love dancing

Music, Movies, and Books

Like most kinds of music apart from over-produced pop pap and boring techno
I admit to a terrible memory for movies - a recent one I can remember liking was Frozen River, Catfight, . Don't like action/serial killer/horror movies
Authors I like for example are Margaret Atwood, Hilary Mantel, Salman Rushdie, Peter Carey, Kurt Vonnegut, Dickens but am keen to be recommended new ones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camped alone on a mountain in Colorado (with my food high up in a tree of course)

Taking Green Tortoise bus from San Francisco to Boston (over 20 years ago!) Every day and night was exciting - Yellowstone, white water rafting, Dakota badlands, Sioux nation powwow, Blues club in Chicago... and the people were great - we all cooked, camped and had fun together

Teach, Learn, Share

can cook - pies, pancakes etc
can upholster
can play piano and have started teaching myself the blues but would be fun to play with someone

What I Can Share with Hosts

Can help with cooking
languages, conversation.... um....
dance moves?
