About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm currently obsessed with meeting people from anywhere and everywhere and hope to do it by offering my couch to people passing through San Diego, and through my future travels.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 23-year old college student living in San Diego, originally from a small town about an hour north of the city. I study chemistry at the university and will be graduating this year. I've lived in California my entire life -- it's a fantastic place. I spent most of that time near San Diego, but spent my first year of college in the San Francisco bay area before returning.

I've been lucky enough to do a pretty decent amount of traveling in my life. I've traveled extensively throughout the United States since my childhood and as a result, one of my favorite things is driving down a scenic road with a far-off destination waiting at the end of it.

One of the most underrated perks of living in San Diego is that Mexico is only a 20 minute journey away. Over the last couple of years, I've been venturing more and more frequently south of the border and enjoy it more and more each time. Incredible food, extremely nice people, and a culture and lifestyle that is absolutely unique. I've also traveled to Canada, Jamaica, New Zealand, and Ghana. I spent nearly a month in New Zealand with friends and had an amazing experience. In Ghana, I participated in a Medical Brigade with classmates from my university. I left that trip with a renewed respect for humanity and an awareness that not everyone enjoys the opportunities that I've had.

I'm extremely excited about the future. I'll be graduating from college in a matter of months, and don't really know what I want to do after that. All I know for sure is that I want to see more of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not sure I have a personal philosophy. I don't really subscribe to any kind of religion or way of thinking. I try to live my life in a way that I am being kind to others but also kind to myself. I believe that most people are good at heart, and that's sort of part of a personal goal -- to create relationships with good people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'll come back to this question in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've yet to participate, but am eager to offer others a place to stay and to meet people on my own adventures.

Interests

I'm interested in quite a few things. In my free time, I enjoy laid back nights with friends, nights out, trying new restaurants, photography, playing tennis, watching sports, and cooking. I play video games when I have a rare chance, read, and spend way too much time planning trips that I'll (probably) never go on.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really enjoy a good TV show or movie. I don't watch a lot of TV (I don't even have cable), but there are a few great shows that I watch(ed) religiously (Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, True Detective). Some may say watching TV is a waste of time, but in my opinion, if you only watch the few good ones, it's time well spent.

I don't read a ton of books. I do, however, like keeping up with current events, so I try to spend time reading the newspaper or current events magazines.

My favorite music is mostly indie-alternative rock. I enjoy going to concerts when my favorite bands are in town, and recently I've started going to our excellent San Diego Symphony.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I bungee jumped off of the Nevis Highwire Platform in New Zealand which is 134 meters above a riverbed. It was easily the most frightening and awesome experience of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like learning about different places. Even if it's somebody from a couple of hours away, I'd like to hear about what it's like where they're from. I'm really into learning languages. I studied some Spanish in college, and am recently interested in Germany so I'm trying to learn a little German before I go there.
