About Me

Currently cycling from Oregon south towards Argentina with my wife, Heidi, through the Americas on a multi year bicycle tour!

I am addicted to traveling by bicycle and moving around the world by human power. I have traveled by bicycle in Europe and Morocco, Central America, South East Asia, and we backpacked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2019. I am a social studies teacher for high school back home and I love any opportunity to learn a bit more about other people and other lives through out the world. Photography is a strong hobby and
I want to eat ALL the different kinds of food!

ABOUT ME

-I am from and love the Pacific Northwest of the United States
-I love diversity, and am hoping to travel a great deal by bike,.until I'm sick of it
-Cooking is something i love almost as much as eating, ill try anything once and have a particular soft spot for spicy things.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is to serious to be taken seriously so escape from the comfort zone, meet new people and see as much of the world as you can. Also Neil DeGrasse Tyson puts it pretty well:
"For me, I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always loved meeting new people and learning about new cultures so I have been happy to host people on couchsurfing for years, always trying to make an inclusive place where people from different backgrounds and cultures can meet and positively interact and learn. This has pushed me to begin traveling by bike as well. It is hard for me to find a better way to break down barriers, meet people on their personal levels and to really experience a place with all of its ups and downs than from a bicycle.
