Über mich

If you are someone with fascinating stories, polite, witty, and a good listener, then say hello.

I like talking about global news, politics, history, and doing random activities.

I can wear a lot of hats, figuratively speaking. I can be smart, quiet, entertaining, inquisitive, respective, sympathetic, and sometimes downright jolly crazy -- whatever the occasion demands.

BEFORE I HOST YOU, YOU MUST:

• Have references and pictures
• Have hosted travelers
• Have hosted at least ONE Black traveler

If you're aren't able to have one or all of the above, it does not mean I will not host you; however, I'd appreciate it if you'd state your reasons.

If you don't respond to the above, I won't respond to your request/message.

Also, make an effort to do some research of this country and things to do. It's 2024, and we have Google. I get way too many messages asking me to plan out their full stay. You'll get a blunt NO from me.

Interessen

I genuinely enjoy having a sit down with people who are open-minded, witty, funny, kind, empathetic, and sincere. Having a sit down and a laugh over a home-cooked meal and a cocktail or tea with said person(s) would be ideal. I should state that I am a proud liberal and subscribe to all ideals that are progressive and liberal. Though I am open to speaking to all sorts of people, I wouldn't entertain a conversation with anyone who shares any right-wing ideologies. I'm happy to disagree on whether or not pineapples should be on a pizza, but when it comes to human rights, I will not entertain any conversations against that. It's 2024, and life is too short.

I genuinely enjoy solo traveling. I'm a bit of a planner so I get a great deal of excitement putting my itinerary together and using that as a guideline when I explore a new country. I also like to meet locals from said country to get an idea of what it's like to be them and live there. I prioritise self care in all its forms: being mentally and physically healthy, dressing well, observing a good hygiene, and being around people who are similar. I am also genuinely fascinated with people, how they think, and why they make the decisions that they make. As such, I tend to be quite inquisitive if I find them interesting.

Rugby, in my opinion, is the greatest sport in the world. It's fun to watch, especially when Fiji is doing well. I wouldn't be a red-blooded Fijian male if I didn't say that I enjoy both watching and playing rugby. I also enjoy playing volleyball and tennis, too. I'm willing to try any thing once, to a certain degree anyway.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I'm blessed to be able to do what I do for a living and because of my career I've witnessed and done amazing things. However, the three things that stand out, in no particular order of importance is:

1. The birth of my son, Theodore. I have never felt such boundless love for any other human being than I did -- and still do -- for my Teddy. Being there for the birth of my son was simply breathtaking and undeniably beautiful.
2. Watching Beyonce during her Renaissance Tour in New Orleans, Louisiana. That floored me. For many people who look like me, Beyonce is a tad bit more than just a singer. What she represents, stands for, and the excellence in which she does what she does makes me and others in the Black community proud. Having listened to her as a kid since 1998 and then see her in person -- at one point just 10 meters away -- will forever change me. You've never lived unless you've seen the greatest entertainer ever in person.
3. Watching 'The Lion King Musical' in Hamburg, Germany. It took me back to 1996 in Suva, Fiji when as an eight-year-old, I saw 'The Lion King' film at my best friend's home for the first time. That film opened my young mind to a world of imagination and wonder. And when I sat in that magnificent theatre in Hamburg, I quietly wept as the actor sang "Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba", the opening line to Elton John's Circle of Life. I still get chills even as I type this.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

When I travel, I generally use CS to meet locals as I prefer my own private accommodation (hotel or an AirBnB). But if I were your host, then as my guest I will expect you to:

1. Clean up after you while staying with me (your bed, your dishes, your bathroom, etc).
2. Don't eat my food or drink my beverages in my fridge or pantry unless I offer them to you.
3. It's polite for most Fijian hosts that when you turn up as a guest, come with a gift. A thank you card from your country, a packet of chocolates from your country, flowers -- anything that shows the host that you appreciate them for opening their private home to you. My mother taught me to never turn up to a home or a dinner table empty handed. It's called being polite. This is not mandatory but I will quietly judge you if you don't.
