About Me
Hi! I'm Wan-ling, from Malaysia. I'm almost 30 (yay!!), living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, working in the FMCG industry.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I heard about couchsurfing from a friend, and created an account out of curiosity. But so far I've not tried it - regardless hosting or surfing, and will like to try it during my Europe trip, with the hope that I'll get to know each places not only from a tourist's point of view, but also from a local's point of view. And if possible, to live like a local - do what you do, eat what you eat, get a taste of what it's like living like a local in the different places.
Interests
I love traveling, have been to a few places within Asia, but have yet to step out of Asia... that will happen soon... :) it's really fun visiting new places, seeing different things, but in the recent few years, as I get to travel more often, I realised it's usually the people you're with that determines whether it was a memorable trip. The friends that you did crazy things with, the guides who bring you to their local hangout places - out of the tourist spots, the locals you meet on the that you end up having dinner with, the guide who eventually became a friend after few visits... So yeah, I love traveling :)
Other things that I enjoy and try to do more often are:
dancing - salsa and bachata, this is relatively new, I'm not a particularly good dancer, but I really enjoy social dances. It's really a good way to know someone better, coz every dance partner is different, if you know what I mean...
jogging (I'm actually trying to run hahaha) - I love joining fun runs in the city as I get to explore the city (that I live in) in a slightly different manner, and also different parts of the city. In Kuala Lumpur most of us drive, and the roads aren't particularly cyclist / runner friendly, so it's kind of an opportunity to explore the city through fun runs.
reading - this is my "me time". as I'm quite busy with work, I often fall asleep reading, but this is really a nice way to unwind and relax myself. One of my favourite ways to spend the weekend is to wake up, eat, read till I fall asleep, then wake up, eat, read till fall asleep, and repeat till nightfall... Some of you might think I'm crazy, but to me it's therapeutic and relaxing.
hang out with friends and explore food places - if you have been to Asia, especially Malaysia, I'm sure you'll understand why. We have lots and lots of different types of food, originally from different cultures (mainly Malay, Chinese, Indian, but even within Chinese there are a few types), and with the mixed influence, it's uniquely Malaysian. So imagine yourself in a hot and humid country (most of the time you just don't feel like doing nothing), with abundance of food choices, won't you want to hang out all day with friends eating and chilling? :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Books - Japanese comics(something I grew up with), Yoshimoto Banana's books, the Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - magical!, Quiet by Susan Cain - as an introvert I can totally relate to it
Movies- How to Train Your Dragon 2 (just watched it again recently), the animes from Studio Ghibli - among all Totoro is my favourite
Music - the ones currently on my playlist are Sam Smith, Michael Bublé, Mr. Big, Muse, Jessie J, Dash Berlin
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Tried to jump off a huge rock into a waterfall, but before I was ready to jump, I slipped and fell straight into the waterfall. The best part - my friend managed to capture that moment, with all the shocked faces of the onlookers hahaha
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Mandarin, and it'll be great if I can pick up some basic phrases of your language too :)
