About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ROAD TRIPPIN' through the Southwest with my bff Marie. We're camping in CA, AZ, NM, UT and CO. So excited! I love rocks!!

ABOUT ME

One of those forgetful, occasionally productive, freewheelin' jive turkey, tea-drinkin' Southerners who'll admit right away that I don't know anything. My socks never match. I like craft beer. I'm passionate, creative, and out to save the world. Or something like that. (ISFP) I tweet @wanderingeileen and Instagram @wanderingeileen

PHILOSOPHY

When it's over, I want to say: all my life
I was a bride married to amazement.
I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.

When it's over, I don't want to wonder
if I have made of my life something particular, and real.
I don't want to find myself sighing and frightened,
or full of argument.

I don't want to end up simply having visited this world.
--- From "When Death Comes" by Mary Oliver

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first heard of this site in 2007. I was hopelessly trying to camp on the Great Wall in China, and some fellow travelers were so helpful. They recommended it to me. I've couchsurfed or met up with couchsurfers in many different countries, and hosted when I was living in Italy and South Carolina (where I hosted about 20-30 people).

People who travel are often my favorite people. I love swapping stories, and seeing the way people's eyes light up when they describe an experience that was important, and perhaps even a little mystical, to them.

Interests

Books, a lot of bluegrass/folk music, my bestfriendcats Digby (#digbyinabox) and Kooser (#tedkoosercat) who I dream of making internet-famous.
