About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to shed the old skin and to let the new one grow

ABOUT ME

Hi there fellow adventurer. I Grew up in NYC in a multicultural environment. I left NY for 10 years, working and traveling in many countries. The list is too long to list. It took a lifetime of traveling experiences and soul searching to find myself in this world. So I'm now in a transition phase into a new career in education.
Throughout my global gallivanting I've come to learn that people are people, and I see more of what makes us the same than what makes us different - doesn't matter where you are from. In this great day and age, borders are melting away and we're becoming a global community. So I feel it's important for me to do my part to fostering cross-cultural awareness, promote tolerance, and bring more good karma into this world. Participating in couchsurfing is a great way to do good things for my neighbors, even if he, she or it is from Xanadu!

PHILOSOPHY

Learn to unlearn one's learning

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience was not good, but now, looking back at it, it was kind of funny and makes for a good story to tell. Remind me to tell you! My second experience, which was a real one where I stayed with my host and her family, was really great. Since then we've remained in contact and are friends. She is invited to stay with me in NY

Interests

Traveling has greatly diversified me, and I have many hobbies and interests, including classical guitar, poetry, literature, travel, adventures, hiking, camping, fishing, cooking (especially spicy food), tennis, Ping-Pong, jewelry crafting and gemstone hunting, mind-altering experiences, head massages, languages, books(especially antiques)

Music, Movies, and Books

Don't watch much TV anymore, but I'll hang with you and watch your favorite show if it's not too terrible.
I watch a lot of movies - mostly psychological thrillers or comedies with friends.
Music is a hobby for me - I play classical guitar. I also enjoy a variety of live music, mostly classic rock, and I especially like anything related to The Greatful Dead
Some of my literary inspirations from youth are Kafka, Hesse, Camus, Poe, the Rubaiyat, Khalil Gibran, The Little Prince, Jonathan Livinston Seagull, the romantic poets and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing epic stories -I reached the base camp of Annapurna 1, the 5th highest mountain in the world, after two weeks of trekking through the Himalayan heartland of Nepal. I've also reached the source of the Ganges River, which is from a glacier high up in the mountains.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm currently training for high school teaching of social studies and ESL. I've taught English in 4 countries. I'm self taught in guitar but would love to share my burgeoning musical interests with others. I have traveled over 25 countries, and I consider this a form of school - the school of life. I love to share everything I know and enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds.
