About Me

Independent, adventurous, well-traveled actor/writer, with an irreverent sense of humor. Reliable, responsible, respectful (and those are just the "R's" lol). I greatly value communication, empathy and integrity -- it's what I practice and what I look for in others. (Given the current state of the world, I should also add that I'm a staunch progressive, and proud to be a liberal.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet like-minded individuals, to share common experiences, to learn from others, and to reduce the gap between cultures and continents (the same reasons I'm a long-time member of US SERVAS and LGHEI, an lgbt travellers' organization).

As a traveller, some of the best experiences I've had have come from meeting locals and seeing their country/city from their eyes. As a host, I'm happy to share with others the diverse and often hidden treasures L.A. has to offer.

Because of my busy schedule, I typically need at least a week's notice to host, and can rarely host for more than 1 or 2 nights. My home is also quite small, and doesn't allow for much privacy. Even if I can't host, I'm happy to meet for a drink/meal, whenever possible.

Interests

Passionate about old (pre-1960s) film and Hollywood history, human rights and social change, comedy in all forms, travel, and flea markets/vintage stores (lol) -- but there's very little that doesn't interest me -- especially when in a foreign city/country.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have very eclectic tastes, and find it hard to choose just one or even a couple.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent 7 weeks driving across the US, mostly avoiding freeways. During my travels to over 45 countries solo, I've parasailed in Jamaica, zip-lined in Costa Rica, scuba-dived off the Great Barrier Reef, watched the sunrise from a hot air balloon over the Valley of the Kings in Egypt and the Rose Valley in Turkey, and lots more.

Most amazing? I've successfully avoided x/twitter, and many other social media platforms. LOL

What I Can Share with Hosts

My knowledge of some of the treasures of L.A. -- including a restaurant for every taste/budget.
