About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To publish the book I wrote about my adventures in Europe and America.
ABOUT ME
I am free!!!!!
I have been blessed with an interesting life. I started hitch-hiking through different parts of the world, having adventures when I was 18. In the last few years I have criss-crossed Saudi Arabia, Italy, Austria and America's West and East Coasts. I'm about to embark on a long cross-country drive across America.
Couchsurf has given me so much in my life. Its made my adventures possible on a scale I never would have achieved otherwise. I am forever grateful to the incredible souls I met through this community. I plan to give back and start hosting as soon as I can.
As for myself... well I have worn a number of different hats in my life. Sometimes its hard to really even keep them all straight. I've been a musician and a politician, and a little bit of a magician. Sometimes a villain sometimes victim, sometimes a hero full of conviction. I stared down death in the far corners of the world, but my neighbors would never guess it they'd think I'm a bore. Does that help explain it lol?
I play Saxophone and guitar, harmonica and singing. I do not smoke. My house is 420 friendly share it if you've got it
I believe the main purpose of life is to collect experiences. I try to always say "yes" to any opportunity that presents itself.
I love trading stories with people. I love hearing about real life experiences, because it gives me perspective on what life can really contain. I find things like TV to be voids that suck the life from me. I can get pulled in easily, but I often regret it. Give me good company and friends playing music around a fire, any day.
I thrive when I have people to stay up late with, discussing deep philosophical issues. If I don't have that intellectual stimulation I go a little crazy. I love chess, playing live music together, singing, campfires, wine... basically everything the ancient greeks did many of years ago, before we invented machines to entertain ourselves. I also love decadent luxury, things like good food, jacuzzis, and fine picturesque sunsets.
I am always on the move. My next bounce will probably not be a return to the United States, I have had my fill of that place. I may move to Thailand or the Philippines in a few years.
Marcus Aurelius said it best: "It is not death that a man should fear, he should fear never beginning to live."
See you soon.
PS
I wish CS had not been sold and changed into a for-profit corporation. CS used to be a just a not-for-profit organization, now its a for-profit corporation, whose first priority is to make money. I encourage everyone to join this group, protesting the fact that CS has changed into a for-profit corporation: http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=45507
I also encourage you to sign the petition and to cut and paste this information onto your profile, so we can spread the word about these changes.
Here is an explanation of the recent changes in CS that have made such a HUGE difference in the way the community functions: http://www.couchsurfing.org/group_read.html?gid=45507&post=10527276

PHILOSOPHY
Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily,
Life is but a Dream...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surf and travel, I try to give back whenever I can
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been doing this for years. Couchsurf is one of the most positive influences I've had in my life. I am one of the "old guard," I've been on this site almost since it was founded. I have had the privilege of watching this site grow up. I have used Couchsurf to travel all around the world.
Interests
Music, When I listen to music I like to close my eyes and breath in deeply, as it washes over me... all the rest of the world melts away.
Travel.
I like to listen to peoples stories as part of my never ending quest to understand human beings.
Also enjoy wine, weed and women. I like reading and discussing good books. I really enjoy planning things in meticulous detail then trying my plans out and adjusting.
I am an adventurer at heart and can never seem to sit still for very long.

Music:
All the songs without names, and most of the ones with names as well. :-)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I achieved my professional dream of getting my degree in political science and becoming a professional campaigner manager. I worked my way up to managing an entire campaign for a campaign for US Congress... then promptly left politics.
I spent over 15 months living out of my backpack, traveling around the Western US. I spent about half that time hitch-hiking.
I went cliff diving in Argentina, wrote a novel, and I have been in love.
I have played music with complete strangers in 4 different continents.
I hitchhiked across the United States at least 3 times, and across 10 countries in Europe. I once traveled 3 days and slept under a bridge just to meet Michael Moore.
I hugged Barack Obama, and frightened Stephen King. I annoyed Howard Dean -then made peace 3 years later.
I was a street musician for a little less than 2 weeks in Madrid. I consider this one of my finest hours.
I have twice used hypnosis to reach a state of consciousness that corresponds roughly to an LSD trip.
I have attended Burning Man twice. I've had a random stranger buy me a free skydiving trip. I have seduced and been seduced, but never enough.
I filled my life with outrageous highs and spectacular lows to match them. I am free.
I hope the best is yet to come.
Teach, Learn, Share
When hitch-hiking, it is very important to be as clean and friendly looking as possible. Shave daily, wear a nice looking button up shirt, and smile. You need to do whatever you can to give potential rides a very good impression of you in the 3 seconds they have to spot you and decide to stop. If you make a sign, put only ONE word on it. If you write anymore than that, no one will have time to read it before they drive past you.
RESPECT your ride. No matter how different this person is for you, never forget they stopped and picked you up. The only reason you even know them is because they commmited a random act of kindness and showed charity to you, a complete stranger.
