ABOUT ME

I spent the first few years of my life chasing my career. I don't regret that, I enjoyed every moment. I got paid to follow my own interests! Have been travelling on/off last few years, kind of a mid-life break if you like. That is not really ALL about me, but heck it'll do for now.... surf with me to find out more!

Regret nothing, it's all part of the journey. If you want to do something, make it happen. If you are still enjoying it, keep on doing it. Don't conform,unless that suits you!

Interests

Everything. Really, I can get interested in most things one way or another. I do love to read, to travel obviously,outdoor pursuits (yep, that includes hunting), photography, horses, kayaking, learning to sail. Enjoy trying new things out.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am just terrible at keeping up with movies. When I do watch one, I usually enjoy it. Some favourites - Whale Rider, Full Metal Jacket, American History X, Once were Warriors, Walk the Line, The Beach is a must. My music taste varies too, but I defo have a soft spot for the Chili Peppers, Keane, Killers, The Guilemots, Snow Patrol, Sarah Blaxo, Audley's. Books? I love books. I am trying to read more fiction, but often end up reading factual stuff. I like Thomas Harris, Hemmingway, Byrson, Palin especially.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Trans Siberian rail journey has to be up there somewhere.... pretty awesome! Oh, and just spent a night sleeping rough on the Great Wall of China - a bit chilly, but was the first to see the sunrise in the morning. Then hiked along the unrestored sections for some superb, tourist free, views. Exploring the far north of Vietnam by MINSK motorbike - check out my website to read all about that one. I'm very lucky, lots of pleasant memories.

Teach, Learn, Share

What a great idea! Hard to be specific though - depends on the student! I think the sort of people who use Couch Surfing are automatically interesting (and interested) people. They all have something to share, and are all open to learning. Let it continue!
