Overview
About Me
I'm from New Zealand and I've lived a largely sporty (rugby/soccer/CRICKET) and academic life (psychology/philosophy). I completed my Masters in Philosophy in 2015 and then decided 2016 was the time to travel. I lived and worked in London for 4 months with another 2 months traveling around Europe and on my way back to NZ, stopped over in Mexico/New York/Las Vegas. Sadly I came down with a bad case of the Travel Bug and while I hear it's typically incurable, apparently more travel does ease some of the symptoms, such as itchy feet. So this year I'm back at it for another 3 months, starting in the U.S. for a month, back over to UK/Europe and then finishing off by walking a Camino across Spain.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I originally created my couchsurfing profile when I was living in London last year (2016) for meet-ups. The hostel culture is so good in Europe I didn't find it necessary to look for a place to stay but it was useful for scheduling activities with fellow travelers, such as taking a road trip in Iceland!
The hostel scene in America doesn't seem nearly as affordable or as vibrant as it is Europe. So I think now is the time to really try out couchsurfing as it was intended - hence I am looking for hosts!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Catcher in the Rye, Poisonwood Bible, Frankenstein, Picture of Dorian Gray, Secret History
Movies: I prefer a good long or deep TV series: Sopranos, Breaking Bad & BCS, The Wire, Mad Men, Fargo, Lost (most of it).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I won a trip to an international competition called Future Problem Solving in Ann Arbor, Michigan, when I was 13, as part of a team of four members. It was a North American competition so as a team from New Zealand, we attracted the most attention from fellow teams. This was before Lord of the Rings and in the days of Xena: Warrior Princess; that's probably all American children knew about New Zealand. I don't know Lucy Lawless, but I have met her and I do know some of her friends. It is possible we could make things happen.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well hopefully good banter and deep philosophical discussion if that's what you're into.
