About Me

I'm 26 y/o from South Africa and trying to find out what I should be doing with my life. I've got my master's degree in economics and I've done an internship in Cologne, Germany. I think I've chosen a less conventional career path in life, and I'm currently trying to grow a high-value bio-based chemical company in South Africa whilst consulting in the same industry at the same time.

Although I'm a bit less quiet than most (when first meeting), I'm quite friendly and enjoy good chats. I've got quite a broad spectrum of interests, and just enjoy talking to people about all sorts of things. Of course, I also enjoy having a night out on the town ;)

I haven't travelled as much as I wish. Unfortunately, I don't have my own apartment/house and cannot host surfers just yet! But I'm excited to meet people and experience this communal type of travel, which I find cool. I know the ins and outs of Durban since I've lived here pretty much my whole life. It's best described as a city that's comfortable to live in. It may not have all the 'bells and whistles' but it's got charm... and some of the best beaches - whether you're a watersports enthusiast or someone wanting to surf for the first time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always enjoyed 'experiencing', rather than seeing new cities. I find that trying to see too much prevents me from really getting to know a place. CS allows travellers to meet locals and make new friends. I think we see much more of our own cities when we are showing visitors around. And... it's always refreshing to meet new people who have new stories! I've travelled to a few cities in Europe and enjoyed being with locals. Apart from site-seeing, it's also sometimes just about chatting about the little things in a unique little pub somewhere.
