Overview
About Me
My name is Motoko. I was born and grew up in Japan. I'm 22 years old and a college student in Japan. My major is business especially I study marketing and management. When I was a junior high school student, I was a member of volleyball club so I played it for 3 years. And also when I was in a high school, I played handball for 3 years. In my college, I don’t belong to any clubs but I like going out and exercising so I often work out for fun and my health!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a college student but I took a gap year from September in 2018 for 1 year. I love doing new things and meeting new people so traveling is one of my favorite things.
The half of my gap year( October in 2018 - March in 2019), I stayed in San Diego, California in the USA for improving my English. However, after I came back to Japan from the USA, I realized that I'm not satisfied with my English and things what I did in the USA. I want to challenge more during my gap year through traveling all over the world. Then, I found "COUCH SURFING" . I think this way is the best way to connect with the world. I really like to share our own culture with people who has different backgrounds!

When I have free time, I like watching the movies. I have a Netflix account so one of my favorite movies are the original movies of Netflix such as “13 reasons why “ , “The Christmas Chronicles of “.
And I like “Friends “, “The Notebook “ , “The Upside “ , and so on.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
From in October, 2018 to in March, 2019, I stayed in San Diego in the USA for studying English. I went there alone and this was my first time going abroad alone. So I didn’t have any friends at first in the USA and I felt anxious in the first month. I tried hard to change my circumstances! I went to lots of new places, met various people, and tried a lot of new things positively. I came back to Japan already but I really miss San Diego and my good friends who I met in San Diego. I realized that being open-minded is really important to change my life! And now, I have some friends in the USA, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Taiwan etc. This experience was the best ever in my life!
Teach, Learn, Share
Since I’m Japanese, I can speak Japanese fluently. So if you’re interested in Japanese culture and want to learn Japanese, I can teach you. And if you like Japanese foods, I can teach you how to cook them. I like cooking together! I want to improve my English skills so if you’re good at English, I want to practice speaking skills through talking with you!
When I was a junior high school student, I was a member of volleyball club so I can teach you volleyball and play it together !
I’ve been to Goldcoast in Australia, Vancouver in Canada, and San Diego in the USA, NY, Vietnam, the Philippines and Korea so hopefully we can share those experiences and information each other.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Canada, Philippines, South Korea, United States, Viet Nam
