About Me

Read this before sending me a request:

I am traveling at the moment so cannot accept guests. I think the new wording for the reference system is bullshit. Out of 39 reviews only 28 are confirmed and positive, despite the fact that all 39 are positive and that the other 11 come from people I have surfed or met up with through CS. That seems pretty important as I am the one traveling now and would like to meet up with or stay with people.

1st **** FOR SAFETY REASONS I ONLY ACCEPT REQUESTS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE SOMEWHAT CURRENT REFERENCES FROM PEOPLE THEY HAVE EITHER STAYED WITH OR HOSTED, I APOLOGIZE BUT I CANNOT COMFORTABLY ACCEPT STRANGERS IN MY HOME WITHOUT THOSE TYPES OF REFERENCES *********

If your new to couchsurfing a great way to start getting references is by interacting with your local CSers and host if you can. This shows future potential hosts you understand the purpose of couchsurfing and give back to it.

I look for those who get what CS is all about and understand its purpose. Many people on this site nowadays do not appreciate or respect that amount of energy, time and generosity that goes into being a host. Guest's should reciprocate in some way and realize that if it is not going to be a mutually beneficial experience for the host then why bother? This is why I've started doing AirBNB more and more. By reciprocate I mean find a nice way to say thanks and plan on spending a little time with your host. Getting to know you is a big part of why we do this!

ABOUT ME:

I do this because I believe in the community, interaction and exchange that couchsurfing was intended for and can foster.Travel, it's trials and tribulations, its rewards, is what motivates me, and the meeting of people is a huge part of that. So when I can't be traveling, I want to hear your stories to carry me through till my next departure!

I love taking walks in the rain.

Most of the time I prefer to be alone, however I find that when you invite people into your home they can suddenly become quite remarkable. I've had some amazing bonding experiences with people as a result of this site that helps repair my faith in humanity.

I gravitate towards deeper conversations, but can do the surface stuff too. I am a good listener and enjoy providing people with a interested ear.

I'm more into daytime activities, but that being said I do like to do happy hour on my porch or at one of the quaint outdoor pubs in my little waterfront town. I'm not much into the nighttime bar scene these days. So you'll have to explore that on your own unless I get a wild hair.

PHILOSOPHY

(Borrowed philosophy):
Trust me, it's paradise. This is where the hungry come to feed. For mine is a generation that circles the globe and searches for something we haven't tried before. So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay your welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It's probably worth it. And me, I still believe in paradise. But now at least I know it's not some place you can look for, 'cause it's not where you go. It's how you feel for a moment in your life, and if you find that moment... it lasts forever...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host a lot. Usually with the hopes that the intimate setting of my home will foster good conversations, learning opportunities and an up close glimpse at the human condition which I am so fascinated by. I am also known for taking surfers out to my favorite spots, to eat at my favorite places, to hear my favorite bands, or along while I seek out unique entertainment options.

When I travel I always have enough for a hotel. When I feel like it I choose to surf because as a host I have seen the positive benefits to both host and surfer

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been a member since 2007 but only started utilizing the site in 2013.
I have met up with and hosted other surfers since then and it's been great, all except for two times. So 98% of the time its been great.

Music, Movies, and Books

Who cares, are you really going to base staying with or hosting me on what I read and watch? But if you must know:

Watch : Anime, Wes Anderson, anything and I do mean anything with Jason Schwartzman and or Bill Murray in it.

Read: Philosophy and Theory, Classical Fantasy, any books about travel or disjointed souls or traveling disjointed souls. Books that others find boring.

Listen: Any music that moves me physically or emotionally. I like to cry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have amazingly made the same mistakes over and over and lived to write extensively about it. Oh yeah, I was also treated by a shaman in Ecuador, abducted in Argentina and spent the night in a cemetery in Italy. I guess that stuff was amazing too. I've seen the green flash.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you haven't already done so learn to understand the impact your actions can have on others. It's a skill that too few have that can get you a long way and put you in a class above the rest.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Courtesy, a hula hoop trick, thoughtful and intelligent (sounding) dialogue. I know a lot about seashells.
