About Me

My name is Patryk, and I work as development manager in the leading Central European publishing house. I also work as an academic researcher at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland. I investigate how remembrance influence our actions and attitudes in political life, and how different societies commemorate their past experiences and how they use these commemorations to strengthen a community.

I live with my wife, Alicja, and our dog, Ramsay in a flat in Torun, where we can offer you a couch or mattress, and a nice company.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife and I joined Couchsurfing because we have conditions to host you, and we'll be glad to have you as our guests. It's nice experience and an opportunity to meet people from different places and to establish friendships :)

Interests

Mostly, academic ones, related to field of research: the remembrance and social communication, but also African culture, cooking (especially fusion dishes), sightseeing, and football (soccer).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: mostly the 20th Century American literature, e.g. Vonnegut's, Bukowsky's, Heller's, Salinger's, Hemingway's and Keller's books.

Music: mostly rap music, but also Portuguese fado.

Movies? I prefer American TV series. And I watch them a lot ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If I have to choose. Walking to the Table Mountain (Tafelberg) in Cape Town, South Africa via the Indian Venster Route (as we missed easier Platteklip Gorge Route). I'm glad that I survived it. It was amazing, but also terrifying. The only one in my life that I really thought that one bad step may cost me my life. But adrenaline did the rest :)
