About Me

I can really claim to be a long term traveller now. I've been on the road for over 6 years.

It's been madness. Got stories, experiences and travelling tips for days.

If you're an inspiring adventurer and would like advice on travelling, I got you covered.

A master of going with the flow, if you host me I'm down to go party, chill for the evening and share stories or anything in between.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going to be in Cadiz Province throughout September to support a friend from Jerez who is going through a tough time.

The plan is to make the most of the remaining sunshine this year and live out of my tent while I'm there.

Though there is a chance I'll end up sticking around in Andalusia for the rest of 2022.
In which case I'll get better situated.

Either way, it would be great to utilise this awesome website and make some new friends while I'm there.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music --- Anything from NWA, Snoop, Cypress Hill, Mos Def, Jurassic 5, Wu Tang Clan. Drum and Bass, Happy Hardcore, Gabber. Chilli Peppers. Prodigy. Meatloaf, Bon Jovi. Rage Against The Machine
Those are some of my favourites but I believe that every style of music has good and bad examples.
Movies --- Law Abiding Citizen, Shawshank Redemption, White Men Can't Jump, The Pursuit of Happyness.
Books --- Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams), The Winner (David Baldacci), Fear of Hat Loss in Las Vegas (Brendon Burns)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Three years ago I wrote "a bungee jump" as my answer here becuase I couldn't think of much, I was always amazed at seeing just how much some people put in this box...

Well.

I left England with £50 in my pocket when I started travelling and went on for three years winging it.

Walked overnight 45km across Germany with a drunken (as was I) Scottish man named Jack after missing a late train.

Swam across a lake in Germany, an achievement because I have a fear of open water. Also swam in a large bay in Italy numerous times and in the sea in the Netherlands. I will get over this fear eventually!

Cooked multiple feasts while working in hostels including a Mexican day where I made around 12 different dishes accounting for vegans, vegetarians, lactose intolerance, an allergy to eggs, gluten free and people who don't like spicy food! It took incredible concentration to make it run smoothly and we were eating Mexican for days :)

Was head (essentially only) barman in a hostel in Netherlands for 3 months. I don't speak Dutch but made it work somehow. And this wasn't Amsterdam where everybody speaks English, I was in South Netherlands.

Cycled 90k in Germany after leaving my tablet under a bridge and not noticing until we were home. It was not there anymore.

Got left in Switzerland by a Flixbus and managed to hitchhike to Milan, even arriving before the bus!

I was in the Bavarian mountains when I was informed that a friend of mine had died in a car crash. To honor him I found a very remote, very hard to get to part of a river and made his initials there out of big rocks. I imagine they will be there for some time to come!

I was an au-pair in Italy for 6 months. An extremely rewarding experience.

And there's more... So much more.

** The above was now written around 3 years ago. I've been on the road for 6 or 7 now. And things have been wilder than ever. I wanted to leave the old version there out of nostalgia, but it's very much the tip of the iceberg now. **

Teach, Learn, Share

Would love to learn to speak Spanish fluently.
I am a cocktail barman, always happy to share knowledge.
Also, I make a good twist on a Full English Breakfast that anybody will enjoy. Or a vegan version if that is your thing.
I've been travelling for around three years as I write this, I've learnt a lot and have a lot of great tips for anybody wanting to travel. I can teach about Workaway.info, hitchhiking, how to find €10 flights, best things to do in a new country and much more! Including why a dorm room with an odd number of beds is a good thing...

** Again, another 3 years have passed.
I've got more knowledge to share than ever. **
