About Me

Retired first responder now PT educator. I always like to meet new people from varied cultures and share experiences with others. My 70's Canadian/UK upbringing was typically good for open-mindedness. I don't judge and have my share of interesting stories to add to the conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My days of traveling just to get somewhere are long past. For me the journey is the best part (especially the stops along the way). Hotels are fine in a pinch but hangin' out with cool people on this community is so much more informative and engaging.

Interests

At the moment much of my free time is spent writing a book I have been working on for several years and although the book isn't about my travel adventures (this one anyway) I have found much experiential food for thought and this helps to add character to my writing.
Other things I enjoy are: finding alternative modes of transportation, (particularly fond of natural or self-powered devices i.e. sailboats, and bicycles) "....why pollute the world as I am exploring it!" I like to keep my carbon footprint as small as possible. ...oh and I drive a tiny Smart Car now so I really need Couchsurfs because sleeping in such a small car is really not practical.... 🚙...! Yah...I have done it....never again!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like adventure, some sci-fi, and comedy movies, spy gear, music of many types, I have read a lot of books, but most of my reading experience has been technical....ya....I know....NERD!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rescued a panicked Dad and his two sons stuck on a sand bar in a boat on Lake Superior in thick fog. It was a rescue I did solo while serving in the Canadian Coast Guard. More recently I have been on a mission to improve the lives of children and families living in challenging conditions by teaching English on the cheap. (Mostly via Skype since...aww you know....)

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy empowering by educating and helping people to understand better who they are, identify goals/purpose and figure out how to get the right nutrition for mind and body so they can a live a drug-free and focus better. In return, I get to learn continuously from others and the experiences along the way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I offer conversation and life stories about a variety of interesting and some revolutionary subjects. ....I generally listen more than I speak out of habit and as a practical incentive, I can fix anything....farm equipment to computers....everyone needs a Macgyver once in a while!
I don't dance, I don't sing, and my artistic ability is limited to sketches of crazy ideas and wiring diagrams in pencil. But I am attracted to people with artistic talent...go figure...
