About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Dedicated to learning daily while searching the world for the perfect piece of land to start a sustainable farm.

ABOUT ME

For the past 5 years I've been studying sustainability and I'm traveling around the world to get hands on, practical experience in farming and natural building. I was raised in Los Angeles where the most green I found was growing between cracks in the concrete and I can't wait to find my little slice of heaven. My wife and I have visited a bunch of potential destinations for our new sustainable life and we are going to continue to do so until we find the right fit. We are looking for a rural but not remote location that gets about 60 inches of rain per year, is near an institution of higher learning, has an active permaculture community, has sustainable agrarian homesteaders living nearby and ideally has an average temperature range in the high 70's low 80's Fahrenheit :) So far the Big Island of Hawaii seems to be our best bet but we are always open to new ideas.
Aside from my research I really enjoy stimulating conversations that push me outside of my paradigm to discover new perspectives. I produce a few online podcasts from my apartment and would love to interview interesting travelers who come to stay with me. My wife is a fantastic cook so here is a tip, if you give her a big warm hug she will probably feed you :)

PHILOSOPHY

Here are a couple quotes that I really like and try to remember as I travel through life...
"You can't see the picture from inside the frame"
This quote reminds me to always try to see things from outside of my current paradigm and to remember to enlist others to help me see whats in my blind spots.
"It's all invented"
This quote so succinctly speaks to my belief that most norms (social, political, religious, familial...) are just inventions. We can make up our own norms too! Ones that match our current principles. This is a huge one for me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a relative newbie but I think CS is awesome! We've had people we've met from our travels and many friends surf our couch, but never knew about the site. So far I have been searching for couches using keywords like 'permaculture' and 'sustainability' and heave found such interesting people! After my first experience as a couchsurfer I vowed to step up my hospitality. I was moved by how wonderfully I was treated and want to always create the same experience for travelers who visit my city.
